So you have a 600w light ..... so now comes the time to decide what size area you want to light up ....

At this point, you need to decide how many lumens/sqft that you want to shoot for the higher the better .....
Some garden sites etc say X amount for X light but i disagree and believe it is up to the individual gardner to decide what he wants ....

A 600w light can light up and area 10'x10' (100 sqft) if you listen to the standard nursey advice at least that is what I think they say I went looking for the standard area coverage map and I just can't seem to find it anyhoo.....

I like to see an area that is in excess of 5000 lumens/sqft (pros generally agree that 7500 l/sqft is optimum) OR 40 - 50 watts / sqft .... best to find out the lumen rating of the bulb and use that if you can

Using the what I like you can get away with 15' sqft which gives you 40w/sqft or 6000 l/sqft (that is if the 600w bulb is one rated at 90,000 lumens)

So for 15'sqft I would say a 5' x 3' area is your best shot

Cheers Littlebuddie - only got your reply today as my mail has been going a bit mad!!
I have a 5x3 space for the project (under construction as i write)how many clones should I be looking at to fill the space? I have loads of 10l pots - 20p each from a florist - major good deal as they are £3 at the garden centre, although i was thinking of using rockwool slabs in a tray as well. Really apreciate all the advice the length and breadth of this forum it is SO COOL! and i only stumbled across it by accident. Keep up the good work and most of all keep it GREEN.
Gratefully yours
a V. happy Leaf

Sounds like your good to go ... Give each plant about 1 sq/ft or a little more or a little less Like I say you make the rules and the plants will tell you what to change. But as a guide start with 1 per sq ft if you plant to grow them out.

Peace
