| ok, i understand that topping will make a nicer and more bountiful plant, do i actually cut the plant at the main stem? or am i cutting at the leaves? if on the stem do i cut off just below the leaves where i want it topped or do i do it just above the set of leaves below the top ones? thanks for the help guys! | ||

You can just do a straight cut about 1/4" above the node you have chosen as the place to cut. I, however, do this a totally different way that is kinda hard to explain without pictures. I don't cut anything at all. I feel this kind of topping (cutting the stem) takes the longest to recover from. The way I do it I see new growth within a few days. If anyone is iontersted I will try and write it up and get some pictures. LB

| I guess I could be wrong but I don't see any way that topping is going to redude your yield. I also don't see how it's going to increase your flowering time. Strains are genetically programmed to flower in a certain time with a certain amount of light. If you've been flowering too long for your liking and you feel that your plant has enough buds then simply turn back the light another hour and they'll be done in a week. I topped my first plant, but it sucked anyway, in my opiion if I didn't top it then It would've sucked much worse. But again, I could be wrong phrogg ![]() | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | At first, I thought Inphreakr was suggesting not to top at all then I caught the "first plant" part ... Not bad advice for your first grow. But if you absolutely "feel" you have to top it just do it once. That's it! If a plant is topped excessively you will end up with a lot of small scraggly buds which may reduce your over all yeild. Topping once usually will almost double your yeild since there will be 2 colas of approximate size. Also, when you top a plant it must first recover from the damage that was inflicted which in term slows the growth down which extends the veg period. So by topping you do increase your growth time..... I topped my very first plant too .... heehee Good Growing LB
