Hey, how's it going? I'm new to this and I have a question I was hoping someone could help me with. I have a REALLY nice grow going from a seed I got from my mother-in-law. I don't know what it is exactly, but I know it's a female and it's some kind of Indica. It is outdoors and doing exceptionally well, which leads to my question. I'm pretty sure, by the way it's growing now that it is gonna be higher than the fence that separates my yard from my neighbors. Can anyone tell me how, and when, to "top" my plant without hurting it. I have already cut most of the giant fan leaves off and I just want to make sure I don't shock the plant too much. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks-Antman

I think that tall Indica is going to already be in for a shock when she discovers you cut off her solar power arrays. Please go to the grow guide and begin reading on what to do for your next grow cause this poor baby just may not make it. milagro

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | hey antman how tall is this indica? do you have any pics? i'm gonna suggest you try and LST rather than topping.. others may tell you different but i see no need to lose your potentially biggest and most potent cola to be honest there is no way to safely top your plant without hurting it lol just my opinion snappy

Hello Milagro, Thanks for your reply. This plant must really be something special because I cut those leaves off over a week ago and she's goin', growin, gone! All the spots on the plant where I pruned those leaves off have TWO new sprouts on each side, with leaves and all growing like crazy. I'm thinkin' it's not in too bad a shock. Anyway, I do appreciate your input and would like to hear from you again if you can tell me about the plants you've "topped" and how to go about it. Thanks again!-Ant P.S. Anyone else out there that has experience "topping" plants, I'd appreciate your help!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Antman, I'm happy to see that JimiC has been by to reassure you/me that your plant will most likely be OK. Whew! He surely knows more than I. I personally don't top. I agree with snappydog that all you do is lose a cola. Training is the way to go. It may not be easy now cause your plant is in flower and already tall and probably somewhat less flexible, but you might try bending her over nonetheless. There is lots of info on training, lst, SOG, ScrOG, topping and FIMming in the section of that name (training). Check it out and have a go. Looks like you have a forgiving, loving, female to take care of the best you can. Good luck, and good grow! milagro

but basically bend the main stem over to one side and anchor it there with string/rope/weights. bringing the secondary growth shoots to the same height as the main growing tip will cause many growth shoots to grow more evenly. if you find one shoot overtaking the others and getting out of control, pull it back in line with the others. this should allow you to grow a lower, bushier plant.
