I'm preparing to start a sog grow from clones. My question is how to you get
so many clones? I've read that some people say to take only 8 or 9 clones from one mother or run the risk of shocking it or killing it. I have a usable grow area of 5ft by 7ft and would like to completely fill that entire space with clones. I have a small area to keep a mom, maybe two moms, but it seems like i would need a mother room as big as the flowering room to get the amount of clones I would need. I would train my mom, and possibly top it to maximize the amount of clones I could take. I'm guesstimating I'll need around 140 babies to fill my space. That seems like alot from 2 mommies.

Any wisdom you can provide me with will be greatly appreciated.

That's also a lot of babies, if this is your first grow I suggest going with a much smaller number. Then you won't have to worry about taking all those clones. Also, taking care of 140 plants is a large task. Do you have the time and dedication? Just my two cents, do what makes you happy

taking car of that would be a task in itself i would estimate atleast half a day to just to do simple things to them. anyway it would be hard if you can't walk all the way around your plants cause how do you maintain stuff against a wall and you are so far from them, at first it maybe fine but when you get them clones thick its going to be tricky and as Psychodelic said it would be hard if you have none or very little experiance. but hey try it you arent going to hurt nothing...cept clones. also 140 plants is alot and can be fined for alot of things and for sure are going to be in jail for a long time.

Welcome to HC.com.
As Psychodelic said - that is a HUGE undertaking! I would strongly recommend taking it in small bits and build up to your goal. Another thing to consider is the consequences of your goal. I am a firm believer in keeping under the police radar-with 140 plants you are dead in their sights. I have a 10' x 10' area I am just getting started and only have 6 plants, 3 in flower and 3 in veg. You might want to check out my journal for a few things to not do, it is in my signature.

thanks for the replies. This will be my 3rd grow. My last grow had 20 4ft tall
ladies in this same area. 5ft by 7ft is my usable area, the room is 7ft by 11ft.
My trays are also on a stand so things can be slide around.
I'm thinking 140 in a sog would be easier than 20 big bushes. I'm trying to
maximize my yield since i only grow during the cold months and may only get one maybe two crops before spring.

It will take a lot of time. Two mothers may or may not be enough. I suggest you LST the mothers to get a lot of clones. I would then take a bunch of clones and many new branches will grow. The more we beatup the old mother the bigger she got. Many many clones were taken from her, and new mothers came out of her. 140 clones is a lot. You may want to take as many clones as you can from the two mothers and the clip clones from the bottom of the newly growing clones (once they get big enough). Even only taking one clone per plant would still double your number of plants. Just an idea.

A wardrobe cabinet turned on it's side would be enough space to get 10 seedlings going and grow them out to 50-60cm, which is about when they start to pre-flower. You can cut mothers from there. If you ARE doing a SoG setup, the clones don't need to be all the same age - you could cut several from each mother per week in a continuous harvest setup.

Are you doing some sort of SoG with small plants? There's no possible way you'd have enough room for 140 4' tall plants in a 5x7 area, unless that door on the back wall of your grow room leads to Narnia....

My useable grow area is about 4x4. On paper I thought I could get 16 1-meter plants in there but I had my hands full with 9 and they were jammed.
