Ez all, My first time postin on this site, lookin for any opinions or advice on my first SoG attempt pls.. Had some excellent results with Maple Leaf Indica (Sensi Seeds) using pot method, adapted slightly for 2nd generation and also trying SoG system in parallel. I'm mainly concerned that not trimmed enough, would like to know if can lose more fan leaves and if worth it? Also how much longer flowering expected - my last round (both clones although previous generation cut from flowering (v slightly) overgrown monster, these ones from veg stage mother) took 9 weeks by pot method, currently at 5/6 weeks for SoG and 4/5 weeks pots. Had some structural work to do on room during last harvest/transplant so all plants disrupted for couple days at start of flowering, pot plants wilted seriously but recovered, SoG were not affected though. My last round yielded 8oz beautiful high-grade from 6 plants finished about 4/5' but seemed to be crowding each other for light so flowered earier this time - 10" for SoG/12" pots as opposed to 16/18" into pots last time. Hopin this will increase yield as def lookin much further along at this stage and seem to have levelled out at bout 2' (SoG) and 3' (pots). Check out the pics, will post more when ready to harv, thinkin bout 2/3 weeks SoG, poss 1/2 later for pots? The system: 2'x6'x6' Veg stage/drying cupboard: 2 Racks 2tube Cool fluoros 1 Mother Plant 6'x8'x6' Flowering room: 400W HPS 4 plants in 3'x2' NFT (SoG) - Ionic Grow/Bloom nutes 5 plants in 5x 15L Pots 70% Canna coco coir 30% clay pebbles Dripper ring fed (15mins/2hrs) Canna coco nutes Temp about 10-20deg Cent at mo, humdity around 60% Good ventilation - 5 fan intake output ducting system. Anyways, enough about the girls, just start rantin when think of them... What do think? ![]()

![]() ![]() | I only pull off fan leaves that are shading out growing shoots or budsites. The rewards are nicer buds from normaly shaded branches. BUT!, if you take too many and stunt or "shock" the plant your gonna lose weight and time. Keep track of when you started flowering and get a good magnifier so you can get a good look at the resin glands. Go one extra week from when you think they are done and you'll thank me later.

![]() | Having looked about the site a bit more, I'm gettin the feeling that training your plants on mesh is pretty fundamental part of this technique... I understood SoG as havin lots of clones flowered early (<10") closely packed on medium of choice and pruning them before flower stage to get all the growth (I'm using NFT) focussed on the cola. As there's clearly more to it than that, could anyone pls enlighten me.... Is my description above really SoG technique and whats results have people had this way? Loads of people seem to go direct to flowering stage once cuttings have rooted - what size plants does this result in? The Maple leaf indica I'm using reaches about 4' with 4/5wks grow + 8wks flowering (pot culture), with method above (SoG/NFT) they are 2'6" 3ks Gr + 5wks flower (see photos - centre tray SoG, plants edge room pots). Does training plants on a mesh to spread the bud sites make it ScroG/VoG or is this done in SoG anyways? Does spreading the growth in this way yield higher in terms of floor area used than clustered colas from individual plants? With my current attempt we have 4 plants in a 2'6"x1'6" NFT and its just enough space although I think the plants could be trimmed more maybe? I'm a demanding bugger I know, but if anyone can shed light (sorry) on how I should develop my SoG technique would be much appreciated. ![]()
