Hi All, I'm trying to grow my own for the first time inside and want some advice on smell. I live in a large one room appartment (35 feet by 20 feet and 10 foot ceilings) and want to grow 3-4 girls. I have one door out to the appartment hallway that is thin and lets lots of air in and out around the bottom and sides. Other than that I have a good seal in the place. I have two shared doors but I will seal them with plastic and duct-tape. I have looked at the Ozone machines but dont' think they're safe for me as I will be living and sleepingin the same rooms as the girls. How bad is this grow going to smell outside and inside? What can I do to mask or reduce the smell? Am I and my clothes going to stink as well? Thanks, Digger

Try to cover the *vent* parts of your door for when it is closed, and toss a towel at the bottom, or fix one onto your door so that when the door closes behind you, it is *stuck* on your door : : just an ![]() The Cheshire Cat

![]() | Yes, it's going to stink, especially during flowering. If you don't do something about it, everything will smell like weed, your clothes, furniture, etc. First get some weatherstripping for your door jamb, so just in case it gets stinky you can keep it somewhat contained. I would get a tub or 2 of that odor control gel and see how well it works. It's pretty cheap and a few people here said it works well. Your buds won't be as stinky, though, for better or worse. I found some at altgarden.com (http://dl.altgarden.com/dwnld/pdfdocs/odorcont.pdf), but you can probably find it cheaper at WalMart or something. Negative ion generators are supposed to be very effective, and I don't think they have the health concerns associated with ozone generators. But you'd probably have to spend $100 or so for a decent one. I also read a few people on here using those TruAir things, not sure exactly how they work but supposedly they work well, and they're under $20 I think. Or consider building a growbox. That way you can route the exhaust through a separate chamber with charcoal or something in it. I'm building a baffle right now for the exhaust of my small grow space, just a box with perfs on 2 sides, filled with once-used dryer sheets. Good luck. -J ![]()

Ebay...type in IONIC AIR and you will see them pop up. You can get a cheap one among the pricey one's, I got 1 for $20 (that includes shipping) and another I got my eye on on : The Cheshire Cat

I want to thank everyone for the great advice. I think I have a new plan with all the advice I'm getting. This might interest some people so I thought I put it hear. I'm going to weather strip the doors and look into the air purification machines. Here's my new idea. My building maintenance people sometimes (once every three months at most) come into my place so I'm going to build a grow box to hide my indoor grow and nursery. I have a queen size bed and no closets in my place so I tell people that I'm building a type of closet the size of my bed for the bed to go on top of saving room. It will be about six feet tall with a ladder to get up to the bed. The box will be out of 2x4 and partical board with a lock for the door. All this supposedly for clothes and storage. But in reality I will be able to hide my grow and enclose the area for air purification (I think the charcoal sounds good) and light control. For security reasons I will show a couple of curious freinds what's in side at first and have it feull of clothes so it's not that interesting. I'm going to build it off site and screw it together on site so it won't sound like I'm tearing down walls and stuff. Because of this new growing situation what does everybody think? Will this control the smell and address security concerns enough? I want to grow some plants for seed (larger outdoor growing abitions in my future) and use this space as a nursery. Thanks for the advice!

walmart sells this for like 30 bucks and it helps A TON on air smells. I would die w/o it. Negative ions and charcoal filter in 1. really is amazing when you put it in your grow closet. Sucks the smell right off the plant!
