![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Police have been known to keep legitimate gardening stores and nurseries that sell hydroponic growing equiptment under surveilance. If you're concerned that you may be caught in a sting operation then there's always mail order companies that can provide you with everything you need. Toke it easy, Pan.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I can only give an uneducated opinion as to which I think is safer because I've never ordered grow lights or hydroponic equiptment through mail order or even purchased them in person. I'm strictly an outdoors grower, but if I were to buy any of these items I would purchase via mail order for the simple reasons that you can't be watched and it takes a search warrant for the police to look at what you're receiving through the mail.

![]() | If your worried about getting all your stuff at a grow shop, why not just go around to all kinds of other stores to get your equipment? Home Depo for a light, Wall Mart for other stuff...etc.. I doubt that people would question you about buying a timmer at wall mart. Or a light from home depot. Just don't get every think at once. If you need a special item at the grow shop, then just get that one item. ![]() mr g

![]() | Whoa! Watch out for the mail order advice above. Few hydro store companies use the US Mail to ship their wares. They use private companies such as UPS. Unlike with regular mail, you have NO right to privacy with UPS, FedEx, etc. In fact, if Johnny Law develops a hard on for a specific merchant, they can go to UPS and immediately get a printout of every shipment UPS has made from that address (growshop). That is not a good thing at all. To make matters worse, the private shipping companies go out of their way to help LEO in any way possible. REPEAT - you have no rights with private shippers. Don't let the word "mail" in the commonly used term "mail order" git ya to thinkin' what ain't true.

![]() | anything going thru the "mail" concerns me. in most cases, you must provide a credit card....all kinds of personal info there...name,address,phone numbers, etc. also, I have searched many of the online stores and with most if you want the item shipped to an address other than the mailing address for the creditcard bill, you have to call the shop and explain why you are shipping it to another address. Although paranoid, I did call and explained that I was buying it for a friend who lived at the shipping address because he didn't have a credit card. I don't know how safe that was, but I needed a light my 2cents maverick

![]() | I don't think I'd be as concerned about the stores as I would about the purchases. All purchases (mentioned a lot here already) should be in cash. Why? Credit card companies regularly sell their data to everyone, including the feds. you have a couple charges in Amsterdam, a couple at a hydro, a couple at a light shop......duh....even I could piece that one together. And with regards to credit cards and alternate shipping addresses, you can get around that by simply getting a Mail Post, or (they call them the UPS Store around here). Get your bill sent there, you can have anything shipped there and if something gets confiscated, remember have it addressed to just the address for the same Box, should you ever get questioned, you can play dumb and refuse the box should you have to. I've received all sorts of stuff from equipment to sundries and no one bats an eye, in fact the staff are amused by the various packages (I'm older, considered by those that don't know me as a big eccentric.....all the better for cover :-) )
