How would I stay undetected by infared helicopters? I have my closet shed outside. What materials would I need to get to prevent this from happening?

i would also like to know if hellicopters can see marijuana plants from the sky.... i have 11 growing in a field of small maple trees... do you think they could tell the difference between the trees and my babies thanks for the info

The best that I recommend is that you space the plants far apart. If they are close together, then they are much easier to spot from the air. Patterns are recognized.

Cepedare, if you can afford it I'd get water cooled lights, not only do they produce bud faster/better, they are completely stealth from the air. There are 3 companies I've seen that have these one is www.hydroponics.co.uk/html/hydrostar.html the other 2 are at http://www.greenair.com/water-lights.htm
and these really aren't that expensive compared to normal HID lights etc.

I'm not completely sure how infrared detection works.

I think it looks for infrared colored photons.

If this is the case, copper collects photons (I heard they use this in highly sensitive areas involving computers) so line your room with copper. In order for this to work there needs to be absolutly no light leaks. This usally means having a type of pre-entrance that you have to enter before you enter the growroom. At least one is closed at all times. I'll need to do some more research before I'm 100% on this.

I'm pretty damn sure, infrared detection simply works by them detecting massive amounts of heat. A 2 1000w lights or even 1, put off A LOT of heat. This heat has to go somewhere, and it probably doesn't look like just an oven or a tv to them. This is one of the main reasons I'd use water cooled lights, I'm growing outside at the moment myself tho

I said to use copper but after doing a few days of research I think that steel would be better for infrared detection. Steel shields lower frequencies better. The thicker the better. Look for TEMPEST protection in your search engine for more information. Infrared and Thermal Imaging technology are similar to TEMPEST privacy invasion.

Somebody posted that IR Surveillance measures heat. Heat is not a vector. Just measuring heat in a certian area gives no information on where it came from. What IR Surveillence is based on is that EVERYTHING gives off electromagnetic/thermal radiation in some part of the electromagnetic spectrum (visible light, radio waves, microwaves, x-rays, etc are all part of this spectrum). Infrared light has a longer wavelength than visible red and for that reason can't be seen. The longer wavelength also allows Infrared light to permiate objects. IR Surveillance Instruments simply makes it so that you can see this light.

Helicopters only use infared devices these days to look for indoor grows. The heat given off produces infared patterns that can be compared to other similar structures in the same area to determine if the suspect structure is "hotter" than it should be. This is only one tool and investigative step that needs to be taken in an investigation. Recent federal court decisions say that the use of the FLIR is not an invasive technique and warrants are not needed. Some states may have different standards.

Outdoor marijuana is readily spotted from the air. Patterns are more easily seen, but I have spotted single marijuana plants. Vegetative cover helps only to the extent that it disrupts the color and shape of the marijuana plants. The darker green the vegetation the better the MJ blends. However, MJ has a very distinct color and once the police spotter learns the color, they will be able to see dope from the air.

The radar that is used here in south florida is called "Greenside Radar" and it does read heat signatures, In fact it is so accurate that it can read 3 plants that are within 3 feet of each other next to the fence.
And now that I know how I was BUSTED I do things a little differently now!
Your plant gives off a distinctive heat signature that is very easy to read by this type of radar and this is a cheap setup so look for more use of it in other states.
I did some research on how to fool the system and found out that it really easy to do... Plant near things that give off heat (e.g.:A/C,Water heater ect.) Also use lots of spacing and place as close to plants of the same height for camoflage.
I foun out the hard way so that you don't have to!

I believe copper *will* work- didn't anyone see Enemy of the State? The ex-CIA guy had a building where he kept a copper cage that had all his equipment and stuff inside the cage. Will Smith asked about it, and the guy said the copper made it undetectable by radar and unscrammable. (is that a word?)
