12 hr power loads??
permalink

Let say in your grow room you run 2 400w lights at 12/12 all year round along with your 24/7 or 18/6 lights. Now i heard the power companies can tell if a load of 800w is being switched on at exactly the same time and off every day.

If you "replaced" the 800watts right before you turn your flower lights off, leave it running 12 hrs, then shut it off before you turn them back on, would they still "see" those individual loads being turned on/off every 12 hrs or just see it as one big continuos 800w load thus drawing no attention?

S2,

while i know it is not very probable getting busted by the electric company, i know they they do have programs that allow them to see these types of things. In my situation, if I did happen to get busted, i would be in deep ****.

Let's say they do see a 800w load being switched on/off at exactly 7am/pm EVERY day for a month,2,year, or years. It is VERY possible if the wrong person happened to see this or hear this they could at least look into it.

As i said, i know its VERY unlikely for this to happen, but since it is DEFINATELY possible , i would rather switch on an extra 800 watts and use that much more energy every month IF it would work like I'm asking than risk any possibility or even have it on my conscience.

So THEORETICALLY, could the power company distinguish each individual load or only the total ammount of electricity being used by the house at any given time? thanks

Howdy

Not an expert. But I don't see how a power company would know how much load you have on your line.

If they could tell that remotely. Why would they send a guy out to read your meter.

they have computer programs out now that can detect it. Not everyone is using them, but i know some are so I would imagine someday they all will be.

S2,

Check out smokinrav's thread titled "A frightening development in power consumption"

I dont believe I ever said 800w was squat. If you would of read my thread I was referring to the fact that the 800w would be coming on every day for exactly 12 hours a day at the exact same time every day. You can not say if someone DID see that it wouldnt raise any suspicions.

I am not contradicting myself at all. I stated I knew they had computer programs that could distinguish load patterns. I am no expert in this field, thats obviously why i started this thread. I dont see why making that statement, then asking if they could see each 800w load seperately is contradicting myself but whatever.

If anyone has any replies to my original question I would love to hear them. thanks bros
