Howdy, I've been lurking here for a couple months just trying to absorb all I can. Thanks for the great info all over the site. I'm a soon to be 1st time grower(I hope) and am also about to send in my 1st seed order. I've decided on the strains and seed bank (Seeds Direct) and I live in the US. My question is, is it relativley safe to have the seeds sent to a PO box? Ive read a lot here and on other websites and dont recall much info on this. I dont want it to come to the house as Im going to grow here, not to mention the kids finding the seeds in the mail. Thanks in advance for any input.

Find a friend or relative who you can trust sending your mail to that wont open it. Send to an alias name other than your own and let that person know the name as well. As for them not to toss it thinking its the wrong addy. Wether you tell them what is in it, is up to you. my $0.02 GL73 Last edited by plainsman1963; 02-10-2003 at 01:00 PM..

![]() | Don't worry about it bro. You can have them sent to your front door. I did it this year and I plan on doing it again next year and the year after that and so on and so forth.

![]() | I've given this subject alot of thought. Security is #1 in my book, nothing is more important. I truly believe the PO Box idea is the safest bet. Yes, you will have to show your ID when you register for the box. I did not have to list the names of other people who would receive mail at this box. However, I will point out, that I obtained my PO Box prior to 9/11. I'm not sure if this makes any difference, but I thought I would mention it. Best just to get the PO Box, and address it to a ficticious name at that location. I have also considered the "send seeds to someone's home" theory. Considering my own paranoia, and the chances that I have to take for this hobby, I will not send seeds to another person's house, even if they have no illegal activity going on there. Even if the person there has agreed to play dumb if questioned by LEO, why put them in a position where they would have to lie to support my hobby? I will mention, one small detail, which most people forget. You cannot be held responsible for mail sent to you. If customs intercepts your package, and grabs your seeds, oh well, try again. This is unfortunately the nature of enjoying an illegal hobby. So I guess you could say it is safe to send directly to your own home, but why take the chance? A huge amount of security can be bought relatively cheap, thanks to the US Postal Service. If a world existed where someone could get in trouble for a package they were sent in the mail, I'd move there. Then I would sent contraband to all my enemies!! ![]()

![]() | Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'm gonna give the PO box the shot at it. I have already registered and recieved the PO box in a city about 30 miles away. I go to the city several times a week anyway, so it is convenient. the biggest reason not to have it sent to the house is the kids. Well my oldest only, he is 15 and i'd prefer he has no chance of finding the seeds in the mail. Or bugging me with "whats in that letter there dad?" and me having to make up something to tell him.

![]() | If you send to a name different than your own to a PO Bxo the postmaster may return the package to sender. Maybe have them send the package to "Fictitous name or current boxholder". I was receiving a bunch of junk mail that had "Joe smith OR current boxholder" and the postmaster told me that, by law, they had to continue to cram my box full of junk mail because it was addressed to "Current Boxholder". Maybe the seed bank would address it that way. Make up a fictitous name and current boxholder...so either way you get it. What do you all think about that??
