I would think this would be the place to ask.(Security)
Just curious if anyone is using hand held GPS to locate their grow sites and what your experiences have been thus far. I have just orderd 1 for that specific reason..

They are great for placing many small patches of weed in a lot of locations. Get the ones that you can download to a PC and store it somewhere other than your HD (a CD, floppy, memory stick, etc) and make sure its in a safe and SECURE location. While walking to your enchanted garden, be ready to clear the memory in a heart beat as the cops could use the info to locate ALL your girls. If the cops ask you about your GPS, tell them you're GEO caching.

That just about sums up what I was gonna say, alot of people seem very wary of GPS with regards to planting MJ. I personally think I'm going to use one this year, but like JustaGrower said, be sure you can reset, or erase the memory very quickly just in case.

we all of use it, many not even knowing it.

It's in all our phones, not only can you be tracked to within 3ft of your grow, they can turn your phone into a mic and broadcast/record/document every word you say, all the while attached to your belt.

no really, i know some guys that use a Sprint one, it has embedded topographical maps, those things are damn handy. freaking beautiful!!

This kind of stuff will end when they finish their databases, they'll just quick see, if you applied for a hunting licenses, if not, you could be a terrorist; "What are you doing out here?" or even worse, they knock on your door and ask, "Why are these pot locations are on GPS service? really though, leave your phone at home.

I for one, I'm Happy, they protect us from the nefarious evildoers, that while in their far off remote, hideouts, hereto never before imagined- they plot their devious plans grow that ditch weed that will in some future day subjugate the masses into complacent mind-numb consumers. lol Wait no, that;s going on now! Grow on MoFo!

They're great for growing in state and national park land. You can get way off the trail and the more remote it is, the better.

That's a good point. I "heard" they could track you with the cell phone because its broadcasting your location. Am not sure about any databases, though. Use just the GPS only devices.

i bought 40 acres of wooded land about an hours drive from my house. the first week end me and the wife went there, i got out my gps, told the wife if i aint back in 2 hours blow the horn. i took off exploring, the property is secluded and heavily wooded. after walking around, i looked at my gps....no signal....crap-ola.....no problem i will call the wife with my cell and have her blow the horn......guess what....no signal....moral of story is dont trust gps in wooded woods. now i know my 40 like the back of my hand. also its near a civil war battle field and i swear late at night on moon less nights your can hear......johny reb and billy yank...
