Okay so obviously drying weed in a storage unit is a stupid idea. But what about storing it, already dried and cured? Sealed up in jars, or 5 gallon plastic buckets? A lot of it is shake that I want to save for future use but really don't want in the house. Any thoughts? When I've rented storage units they always have warnings of drug dogs and stuff like that so I've been scared away... Do they really do that though?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | GD2K- I vote yes I live in a very small town. I have a storage unit on the outskirts of town. Its been going on 4 yrs now that I've stored my cured bud there w/o any problems at all. I know the family who owns & operates them too.If those variables were to change, then I'd vote no. If I lived in a bigger city and they had signs posted about drug dogs and such, they've probably had problems b4. People dealing outta units and such. It could just be like ppl putting fake security signs in their from yards. I dunno, why risk it I feel the same about not having it in the house. I just have under the amount that wont get me Now, I'm not sooo paranoid thinking that I'm gonna get bused..Hell, I don't even grow @ my house ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I wouldn't hesitate a second dude .... that's as long it was in sealed glass. Stay away from plastic imo .... remember, dogs have much keener noses that we do! If you already have a storage unit, go for it. I would have a bitch of a time justifying the cost, for storing trim!! ![]() jv

I voted no, but that's mostly because I would never have to. I have never seen the drug dog signs by our stoage units, and know a few people that use one just for that reason. Most of them allow you to put your own locks on them anyways around here too, so wouldn't really worry about them just opening it up, but make sure to have it paid like 3 months in advanced, cause you don't want to run into any problems with their accounting that would get you in trouble. I would probably store it in a storage, especially if I had other stuff in storage already that I just added it too, but would feel a little concerned I'm sure with having it where I couldn't know how it was at all times, or know someone that was around it that could let me know if something ever arised. Sure go for it 2222k. Happy Storing Alleycat

![]() ![]() | Absolutely! I've a small storage unit that runs me $15 a month. Couple of Rules: 1) Not in my name. 2) Not in my town. 3) Pay discreetly, NOT own CC. 4) Secure the containers. Tangent Story: I keep up to an ounce in my home/property. I break that up into 1/8ths. I keep 1/8 in a hidden yet "obvious" spot with pipe, papers, and bong. I hide the rest elsewhere, secured from the hounds. If a raid happens I want to misdirect 5"O" into small quantities rather than large stashes. I also don't want to visit the storage unit often. An oz lasts me up to 2 months, but usually just a month. LOL. Misdirection works great. It has only come into play once in my life (18 years back). I won't get into the details of that drama, but long story short: Lived with P's. Busted possessing (not selling) 4 hits LSD. P's gave cops permission to search their house w/dog. Had 1/4# stashed, less than 1/8 "accessible" with pipe. Cops left when they found 1/8. Well, believe it or not I forgot about the QP. Last summer fishing with Dad (now retired), he told me he found my pot while he was remodeling. After another cast, I asked him (a man as clean cut as a S. Court Justice) if it was still a good smoke. He just looked at me, and I hooked a fish. Somehow the story is funny to me now. The end. Last edited by jkstraw; 03-06-2008 at 05:51 PM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i said no also, only because i dont need to either. im not saying dont do it. i just dont need to, ever. i have other places, that are trustworthy spots to hold, store, anything i need to. i do have a friend who does not grow, but holds stash at his storage unit, i have gone with him, and i never saw the drug dogs signs, or anything like that, and hes got a pretty secure storage place (huge metal gate, cameras, secure code sign in, etc) shit, we even smoke in there sometimes. we can see out the window, overlooking the main entrance, for anyone that comes in, long before they get to his unit. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Vacuumed sealed glass jars are not smellproof! I have a crop that proves that beyond a doubt. If you're busted, chances are they'll find the unit too unless you are really careful. (Pay in cash, throw out monthly rental statements, etc.)

... 'cus one thing is certain, I have no sense of smell, so there is no way I can judge Let me tell this though ... there is an exact science to loading canning jars to make them odor free. First off, make sure the jars are clean, fresh out of the dishwasher ... the lids too. Then a second person is needed, with clean hands (no touchy bud ) to hold the jar. The first person .... VERY carefully loads the bud into the jar, taking the utmost care NOT to touch the top edge of the jar .... remember, it only takes one burst trichome to spread the fine odor of mother nature ... or the bud handler to touch the outside of the jar! Once full, the second person (without the stinky fingers ) tightens the lid completely. Then a couple layers of electrical tape around the edge of the lid ..... and wallah, an odor free storage device! Is it too bold to say .. from this point on, if you break up a bud to smoke ... don't touch the clean full jars!!?!!? Not guaranteed of course, but this technique has worked for me several times for small jars {mod note: discussion about selling, trafficking, smuggling, or mailing of medicine or drugs.} hehehe.![]() jv

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | While these objects seem to be completely air tight, they are not. Over time the smell can permeate through the material itself. Whether it be plastic or glass (I would think it would get through glass easier though... could be wrong.) ![]() Now that I think of it more I can't exactly name my source for this. I'm not sure if I heard it from someone or read it somewhere Anyone know for sure?
