Ok jsut so everyone here is clear, you DID get seeds Seized. It wasnt like they let you get your seeds and decided to track you down. Im sure alot of ppl, myself included had their heart jump when theyr ead it was customs that got the tip off. But to anyone who has never had seeds seized I dont think their is a way customs could tip. They cannot allow seeds to be passed through to your hosue just to possible entrap you.

Dude, sorry to read about your circumstances. I don't think any one should ever have to do time for pot.

However, for those reading and following this thread I can't help but think that there's probably a lot more to your getting busted than just customs nabbing your seeds. There just isn't the money or manpower anywhere to track down and investigate any/all the seeds that get confiscated. Customs and law enforcement have a lot more things to worry about than some pot seeds. Unless of coarse you're already in a database and on their radar. Even then you'd have to really be sticking out. There's 10's of millions of people with minor convictions that would never even blip their system.

Now if you are really going to do 18 to 36 months, and this was really all the evidence that they ever had. Then you have a shit lawyer.

And maybe 3 years of your life? For pot? And you have 2 months before you go? Damn, I'd have a hard time not looking at Canada.

While usually I agree with your comment about the lawyer, he is pretty much fucked.

Is it that hard to believe that some guy(s) at customs makes a weekly habit (say friday) of calling all the state patrol offices of respective states where pot seeds were headed to (and then subsequently STOLEN)?

Shit maybe they are even on speed dial . . read off the name and address, and away we go! They start with the people who are already on the radar and move down the list.


I would like to declare DEAD . . the idea that having your seeds confiscated is of no concern.

Granted if afterwords you dont grow at that residence (and if in your name not anywhere for a few years) then you are safe as can be. But to go ahead and grow thinking they wont follow up (which has been accepted as the safe thing to do) is nonesense.

i dont think ive ever said having seeds confiscated is of no concern, just that i have never heard of a mj bust resulting directly from only a seed delivery confiscation. this has been documented across several mj forums.

i do remember saying that one should always use a fake name, and have the seeds sent to a non grow address, and to even wait a while before picking up the seeds/package. if the seeds get confiscated in this case, it would be really hard for leo to make that stick somehow. (assuming a clean record) a good attorney can easily handle this situation.

ordering seeds and having them sent somewhere, anywhere in the US, there is always a risk. no matter how small. possession of viable mj seeds in the US is illegal.

i do believe that "they" have gotten a lot more aggressive in recent times, in intercepting illegal contraband (not just seeds) entering the US via mail/postal, and the seeds just happen to get intercepted more often.

I don't think anyone was saying its risk free. But it did seem like people in general have been getting pretty lax with the whole seed thing lately. I can remember on many accounts people saying they've ordered their seeds with a credit card, to their grow address in their name without much second thought... I even specifically remember OP doing exactly that.

I myself have done it! 7 or so years ago Fortunately all my seeds arrived safely.

My best of thoughts are with you serenity. I'd say that the entire growing community owes you some gratitude for bringing this to our attention. Unfortunately you have to pay the price, serving some time. That seriously sucks. What else can I say man... Thanks a million times over for taking one for the team. What a hard thing to go through. I guess we all go into this hobby knowing the possible consequences and are willing to take that risk... But man. reality bites...

18-36 months is the maximums right? Usually people get out long before then as I understand? One can hope right?

I'll be praying for you. Be strong. Don't blame yourself either, thats the last thing you wanna do, as that will only undermine your self confidence.

i just did a search on a couple other mj forums for recent seed confiscations resulting in arrests. there is at least 2 on icmag, one in KY and another case in IL. seems like its happening in the Midwestern states. in both cases, there was a lot of pot, money, scales, and possibly other drugs involved, etc. it really seems to depend on where you live.

in the majority of seed confiscation cases we have seen, the person who receives the package/letter gets the green sticker/tape and a terse form letter stating the item(s) found are illegal, and that is usually that, and nothing usually comes of it, this has even been documented as of recent.

im not sure what prioritizes one delivery over another, what makes them go after one grower but not another. there must be some connections.

i feel really lucky to be in a med mj friendly state. i have not bought seeds online from outside the US in over two years. no need to, probably ever, as long as the state stays mj friendly.
