![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That is a helluva idea Greendragon! never thought of heating the house!!! I do not agree with the drieway glowing. A frost is more intense than 10,000 watts. My 1 foot thick concrete ceiling is 1 foot below the frost line. Then soil and stone and asphalt which goes into the concrete floor of my garage. No way that heat is transfering that far. Although I could be wrong and oh well I got a fort! I like that heating the house deal that's wild. Also maybe run it to my greenhouse to help my cold cropping op out! Thanks guy! Peace, EMj

I have a basement, that is underground. No doorways going outside, it's carved out of the bedrock, under the ground. However, although the basement is underground, it does have crawl windows. Not trying to bicker, just help a guy out. Peace, d0x ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I mentioned windows as most basements have those typical small windows near the top of the basement wall. My point is this....there isn't going to be a big heat signature as it already is. The house itself is a big insulator for the roof of the basement. Most basements are already below grade to some extent. If you're concerned about whats left to deal with, just add some rigid insulation to the inside of the basement. This idea of digging a hole and having an underground grow op sounds like something out of an Austin Powers movie. Isn't that right, baby?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For what its worth I was watching cops on TV the other night. They were chasing a guy using flir. He hid under a concrete stairway and the helicopter lost him. Concrete stairway was no more the 8 inches thick. I also read some where that they look for the hot exhaust. It looks like a flowing fountain on there screen. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | you should probably go with a 100% sealed room with a self contained ventilation/air recyceling sytstem, why go to all the trouble of 4 feet of dirt and all that other crap when you can buy material that blocks IR from getting thru it? Just use 3 or 4 layers of it it if your that worried, it would probably be the cheaper way to go, and by the way, i read in the security forum that it is illegal for the police to go around randomly scanning for IR coming from grow rooms, unless they have a warrant, the courts deemed it an invasion of privacy. i bet you could go buy an IR scanner from a surveillance/spy type of store and then just use it to see if your detectable and then return it the next day and make up some dumb reason why you don't want it anymore.

i read the IR blocking material was a scam and doesnt really do much other than mild insulation - so it does block heat but only enough for the manufactuer to get away with the advertising i bought some anyway - ran it around my hydro hut - it raised temps inside hut by about 3 degrees - i have a laser temp gun i got from the hobby store - temps on the outside didnt change bottom line - i dont think the stuff works 100%
