medical users and security concerns

hey
dont know if this is in the right forum but i thought it sounded right. so i am a registered medical user in a state the has very progressive medical laws and a county that is even moe tolerant. many stories abound in my area of leo who enter homes of medical users for various reasons, see plants, check papers and then leave. nonetheless, i still go out of my way to follow the traditional "sketchy" security measures - at the hydro store, on the internet ordering, in my conversations, on general visibility issues, etc etc.
what do the other medical users on this forum think of this? it seems like common sense to me, but a lot of local growers i know dont seem to care too much.
second, is security concerns that dont have to do with leo. i am very discrete with regard to friends knowing about my (small) grow but i dont follow the never tell even your best friend rule, partially because of the legality of my grow and partially because i trust my close friends. my concern has to do with jackings and landlords.
how often do you all hear of theft of indoor grows? and has anyone heard of stories with landlords discovering medical grows? would i be eligible for eviction, or would the legal status of the grow protect me?
sorry for the crazy paranoid stoner thoughts, i was just mulling....

i am a medical user and medical grower. i would agree with you on most points, that other medical growers dont seem to be at all that concerned about security when it comes to local law enforcement. i have some security habits that die hard tho, such as telephone conversations, etc. the local police chief has said many years ago he would not prosecute medical growers, the county chief legal prosecutor has said the same thing. that said, i hardly ever see busts of less then 1000 plants around my area, and when there is one, its because they found it while investigating something else. i have done all the security precautions except for smell, i dont have a carbon scrubber, but i also live in a house that is in a good location and the other houses are pretty far from it, and there is a perimeter fence with a locked gate. i know that this is usually one of the top priorities on a growers list to cover, but i have been in this place for over 10 years, and no one has ever said anything. yes, there is a smell but you have to be really close to the house to smell it, the gate and fence take care of that.

ive heard of a lot of break in's and home invasions due to grows/medical grows, but this can be avoided, by not associating with people you dont trust. my landlord discovered my medical grow, BUT he broke in the house to find it (in court i would have argued that he did not enter in a conventional manner) so he didnt say anything about it. (long story, but the short version is that he was putting new siding on the house and entered my house by opening a window and walking in) from what little legal knowledge i know about landlords and medical grows, they cant kick you out if you already live there (due to the grow), however they can stipulate (before renting to you) that they explicitly do not want a grow in their rental.

i would continue to follow common sense and security when growing, even in a medical state.
