Security in the big city...
permalink

A lot of grows that i see usually take place in rural or suburb type areas. I really haven't seen much cultivation in big cities and the close quarters that they are made up of. Now if somebody was to cultivate in the city what are some security issues that all of you might think of? Before every-1 calls my friends idea crazy let me speak of smoe of the benifits they have made me understand. 1- In the city comming and going to the place bringing supplies at any time in the day and night are normal. People in the city are up all hours doing this and that and alot of traffic is less noticable. 2- People in the city tend 2 keep 2 themselves. Most city people have seen and done it all, suspicious neighbors are usually not a call for concern. People generally just keep 2 themselves where as suburban people are usually noisy about what there neighbors are doing next door. 3- Police are out doing much bigger and better things. In small towns and rural places a grow house bust is probabily the bust of the century. In the city cops are usually worried about murder, gangs, and trafficing of drugs, a person who has a few plants for personal use may not be as big of an intrest 2 a city cop. There are more reasons i think the city benifits the subarbs or rural areas. What do yous think? Does any-1 have any possible security concerns about city cultivation?? Also please include possible solutions to these security issues. Thank you.

having growin in the city I would agree that all of the above is true. It does feel safer. Also your IR footprint is less of a concern.

The only concerns of growing in the city that i can think of are not security related; mostly space & electricity are at a premium. Ample power is often difficult to obtain. Actually if you didn't own an entire house thats a security concern as roommates usually spell problems. Most people have roommates in big cities because of housing costs.

Attached garages are handy for getting in equipment inside in a stealthy fashion. Cities usually do not offer these features in housing.

yea smell is def a concern of my people. But to there delight the rowhome that they own has fireproof walls. This is so fires can't spread house to house. This is also good in the event of them starting an accidental fire. If the walls help fires from spreading what do u think the chances are of smells travelling through??

My gut feeling is suburbs and cities are way riskier than the country, more eyes, plus people are different in the country, there's no local LEO, and people probably wouldn't talk to them if there were. I live in the country, my neighbors don't smoke, but they know I grow, and I lose no sleep over it.

That is the first potential problem that jumps out at me. All it takes is for the wrong person to get a whiff and they will be on the phone to report the odor.

I would make sure I set up an odor elimination system that was overkill just in case.

I have to completely agree with Tripps. The less prying eyes and noses you have around the more security you have. City folk like to stick their noses where they don't belong and are generally more intrusive on a person's privacy. Whereas country folk usually won't give you a second look as long as you aren't doing something overly suspicious or bothering them in some way.

everybody knows everybody and someone always blabs. in the next big city, dealers are much safer, i only hear of big grows being busted either place.

i believe you are thinking suburbs as "city". if you ever lived in an actual city you would know this not to be the case. but as far as growing goes, keep it stealth and smell free. i would worry more about someone breaking in and stealing my buds than getting found out in the city.

personally i think the suburbs are one of the worst places to grow i guess im saying this because i live in them but ... 1. always kids everywhere getting off school going to school ect.. 2. neighbors in the suburbs are nosy as all hell. 3. suburb cops are always looking for grow busts because they have nothing better to do. i can think of plenty of other reasons why growing in the city has its advantages but i honestly think the rural areas are where its at
