Not sure if this is the best place for this question but since I am doing it to avoid possible prosecution I thought Security was the best place.

I live near San Diego, CA and have been thinking of getting a medical MJ card. I wanted to see if anyone else has used any of the "evaluation centers":

I could go to my regular Dr. but was not sure how he would react. Or if he would even consider issuing one.

Any thoughts/expercience people can provide will be greatly appreciated.

you will get a mmj card if you go to the evaluation location. you are on the right track.

i did not tell my regular doctor that i went to see another doctor about mmj.

Yep, i got my card in San Diego from Dr. Sterner. Very helpful doctor.

Does he or the other site issue a card that can be verified through the California Medical Marijuana Identification Card website?

The reading on both sites is unclear (to me) if they issue their own ID card or the one registered through the state.

ok, first off, dont get the state issued card. those suck. (because, if you get the state issued card, you may be putting yourself on a state/federal list and you also may be shooting yourself in the foot because local guidelines may allow you to grow more then what the state issued card allows, depending on where you live)

second, the evaluation centers dont issue ID cards that i know of, the clubs do. not all clubs issue cards. some clubs issue only state cards, some clubs issue local guideline cards. its all based on where the club is located, and what county you are in. technically, you dont need the ID card, just the doctors evaluation. that is all that is technically needed, even in court.

this is what i do: just make a copy of the evaluation, and find some cheap photo frame and post it prominently near the front door, and make a smaller, wallet sized version, laminated, to put in your wallet or purse. that is all you need. the eval is renewed, once per year for a fee.

What does the initial evaluation cost and annual renewal cost. Both sites I checked are a little/lot vague about that.

I also plan to grow my own. Do I need the Dr. to specify my possession limits (ie. dried, total plants) on the eval or is that standard once you have an eval.

First visit for me was $160.

2nd and 3rd visit was only $120.

Script last for a year as well.

i believe initial eval was 200. renew is 125. the guidelines vary a lot from county to county, even in California.

Dr. Sterner was $125 for the first visit. I was issued a card at the end of the visit. Everytime I go to the clubs they accept it, tho they always call my doctor to verify I am a patient, but only the first visit. After that the clubs have you in their computer. I never had any run-in's with the police, so i don't know what they think of the card. I wouldn't try to get any further ID. its just putting you more into the "system", which is never good. The doctors office is located by the SD airport, so if ya know the area its easy to find. My script was only for 6 months tho, i see others are a year.
