Mistaken Identity equates to all hell breaking loose and shit hitting the fan.

November 24th, I was soundly sleeping—so much in fact that I couldn’t even bother to get out of bed to take my girlfriend to her class (which I would soon regret DEARLY). She went to class—pissed off, even left me a cute little note on the board reminding me. Not too long after she left I was woken up by loud pounding on the front door!! Boom Boom Boom Boom! I go downstairs in my underwear completely confused wondering what the hell was going on and much to my surprise there was a YARD-FULL of the Ohio, Columbus Police Tactical SWAT Team and US Marshalls armed with automatic weapons and a battering ram slamming into my front door. I thought at first it was the regular police so I asked for a warrant to try and blow them off. Then they responded that they had a felonious (first degree) warrant for my brother. I tried to buy myself time by telling them I needed to put my dog away (German Shepherd which I did do) but obviously they weren’t buying this—immediately after I told them that I started running up the stairs towards the grow room and as I was half way up the stairs I heard another BOOM of the battering ram to my door. So I go let them in and immediately they handcuff me and run upstairs to go get my brother. I asked what the felony was for and they informed me that it was for Aggravated Robbery! Apparently, there had been a string of armed robberies in my area of local check cashing places and my brother was prime suspect number ONE. Only because one of the guys at the check cashing places said “the guy in the ski mask that robbed me looked like *****” aka my brother. ..so needless to say they asked if they had permission to search. I said no, but they had a warrant to search for a ski mask, guns, and any other materials. First door they opened—my grow room, so it wasn’t shortly thereafter coming for my brother, they were on the phone getting another warrant to secure the beautiful plants that were growing in my home. They took my brother away downtown and left me on the couch in my underwear, and handcuffs, to wait for their warrant—oh and my girlfriend who was at class through all of this. She decides to come home early to be told to sit down on the couch and that the police were about to search the entire home.

Some of my favorite comments came from the police themselves, who said, “We’ve seen WAY bigger grow ops, with WAY better stuff, we’ve NEVER seen such PRETTY plants” with emphasis on all the capitalized words. They were asking things like “How much longer do they have?” and “How did you get them to look so pretty?” Calling for their friends and coworkers to come ‘check it out man’. They also loved the fact that I had NPR and Classical Music playing in the background when they swung the door open—“They are even playing mood music”. (DAMN RIGHT I WAS!) My brother quickly responded to that one, “Yeah it makes the nugs bigger”. LOL. Then they ran to the basement and yelled up “We got another grow op down here!” I immediately began to laugh and had a quick response from the cops saying “What’s so damn funny?” I replied “well what you’re looking at is organic cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, mint, dill, which I’m growing for my girlfriend because she likes vegetables”. Like they couldn’t believe that someone might take the time to grow their own food (especially if they are growing pot).

So after getting our info the cops released me and my girlfriend to leave the home (aka—go lawyer up). So we go to the lawyer with no socks, dirty clothes, and no cell phone. My girlfriend couldn’t even take her purse. We come home about 2 hours later to find that only half of the house had been searched (3 rooms exactly—none of which being my brothers room—and not a room more) They even left a bong, and personal stash in the basement almost like they had given up. Or maybe it was because midway through the interrogation of my brother they realized he wasn’t the guy since he was AT WORK when all of these “robberies took place”… uh a case of MISTAKEN IDENTITY=BULLSHIT FOR ME. Turns out, all of the police had gotten a warrant for with was a picture of a guy in a ski mask and the name of him from the worker (who he had occasionally stopped by to talk to), it also didn’t help that from 2 years prior, there was a note in his file (since he HAD cashed checks there before) that he had a temper. All of that circumstantial evidence piled up into let’s take this guys plants today. They took all of my lights, hoods, digital ballasts, cut all of my cords, ripped my grow tents, fans, and carbon filters (1 being a 4’ filter!!!!), however, they left me the root balls, oddly enough left my grow mediums and hundreds of dollars in nutrients & etc though (thanks guys!) and a fucking mess. My room was fool proof and there was NO other way they would have taken my shit 3 weeks before harvest, a helicopter could have sat above my house for an hour and never would have gotten a flur reading. (From my harvest, I would have gotten 36 ounces and well, all I was left with was a few leaves on the floor and one small nug smaller than the tip of a lighter to cry over).

I guess after they found out they had the wrong guy for the initial warrant, they stopped mid-search and left with the plants (8 plants… kept one for themselves I suppose) because there were definitely 9 in flower. They also counted up 41 more in rock wool that didn’t even have roots yet—little babies! Now 2 weeks later, not a word from our lawyers, no charges filed, call me naïve, it’s almost like they are just dropping it since they had the wrong guy in the first place? My brother isn’t an armed robber and they weren’t sitting on my house to bust me for cultivation….

Of all the stupid crap that could happen. Man that is one heck of a story. I loved the veggie part.

My thoughts....lay real low. 8-9 plants, they think you were going to have 8-9 lbs. The last I heard anyway, "they" think you get a pound for each plant. If I'm right, they are going to be watching you like a hawk. You couldn't smoke all that yourself. As if they have never heard of a freezer before or something. But seriously though lay real low, your friends will appreciate that. They will be following you, watching every move.

Or you could be right, maybe they are just giving up because they had a bogus reason for being there in the first place.

My advice- your plants are gone, morn for a while before starting back up and remember you are now forever marked as a grower. Bummer. Good luck man.

Sounds like the beginnings of ebb and flow hydroponics to me. Amazing how many years later man "invented" hydroponics and claimed to be the first to do it.

God made hydroponics so hydroponics won't hurt.
