I have moms and veggies and a lot more shit, they all smell, I agree with 2 to 3 weeks into veg also.

Have you ever been to a greenhouse, like to buy flowers? It just smells like a lot of greenery growing. That is what it'll make your place smell like also even in veg. Some of my veggies have a stronger more pungent flower like smell when handled but it's mostly greenhouse greeneryish.

Also keep in mind you may become immune to it. I have a basement full of plants and cant smell anything. If I leave for a few days, I might smell it a bit when I get home but then get used to it. I have installed more filters etc but who knows.

Point is, you cant be too careful about smell. Be double, no triple sure you have the stank covered.

BTW I also notice when trimming the house REEEKS. That may because we do it in the basement in an open room and it gets all over the house. We open the door for NOONE on those days.

While it was 30 minutes after lights out, when I came home, I instantly noticed the smell of growing plants.

Plants are going to smell regardless. My estimate is once the plants are into flowering is when they really start to smell, but I've said my plants tend to put out odor at lights off and lights on.

My brother-in-law was over on Thanksgiving and smelled my basement grow room as he came into the house so I had to show him. I was not going to do that. Shit. He's a nice enough guy and probably won't fuck me over, but I was not going to share this with him.

At least it was him and not somebody I work with, for instance. That would be really, really, really bad.

When I get my year-end bonus I'm going to invest in some grow room upgrades - an air-cooled light and a new carbon filter and fan.
