![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | might work better than that video depicts, but to my ears it didn't seem to do much. it shouldn't reduce your CFM significantly (nor the sound really) As effective would be to wrap all of the duct (and the fan too if you can) with sound absorbing material. Carpet pad works pretty well. The stuff designed as acoustic duct wrap is very pricey. Here is a deisgn I came accross for a muffler similar to the one in the video. The person who built it wrote that it knocked off about 10 Db but wrapping the duct without a muffler in carpet pad, cut out more like 40 Db (both examples out of 98 Db ) the longer the muffler, the more it should cut sound. What it does is absorb the sound bouncing off the duct inside walls. I suppose that you could line the duct with something like carpet pad too, but that would be tricky. | ||
