It seems like you just wanted to question the OP, the daughter, their relationship, and the OP's intelligence.

A few posts later he writes:

Quote:
How do you train the tomatoes? I have stared plants in my rooms but then I take them outside when they begin to need the training.
I usually don't join in on this type of nonsense but I must say it seems as if you are attacking Swordfish, about his answer and post not being relevant whatsoever to the question, then you go post this, a statement about trainging tomatoes. How relevent is that?. Then you seem to attack him some more and act as if he's insulting this guy for trying to help him think about how to hide his growing from his daughter. Maybe I'm out of line here but I have to say that it seems you are the one on the attack Oldthymer. It seems to me that Swordfish was simply discussing what OP wanted to discuss. It seems as if he was taking it to the next level, which is what you were probably trying to do when you asked how to train tomatoes right? If your going to try to govern what other people post then perhaps you should give some thought of the consequenses, which are people like me looking at your post and thinking, "what a jerk".
Now I'm done here, that's all I have to say about tomatoes and who's attacking who. I don't care to carry on this disussion any further,
Thank you,
CT

Actually, you're the one off topic. Let's discuss vegetables and grow rooms and save the daughter discussions for the Dr Phil forums. I really wanted to know how people grow vegies in their grow rooms and the 3 posts you address go right to the point.

Perhaps Security was the wrong forum for this post after all, because that's not my primary concern, just related. Mods can move it to a more appropriate forum if they like.

some of these post are a bit wordy

i would say how old is your daughter and how gullable(sp)

it doenst make sense to grow veg indoors unless you have to much money to spend on electric -
even at 10yrs old i could have questioned that

plus - you dont want her going to school telling her teach or friends "my daddies house lights up light xmas every night of the year LOL

It doesn't cost much for me to let my kids run a 400 of their own

My kids teachers know they grow vegies in the house... they have taken their wares in for the class to try and have done reports on some of their experiments... including aquaponics

The best defence is a good offence... The teacher thinks nothing of them talking about lights in the house... (my grow is in the garage)... they go to the hydro store with me ... my daughter has the owner wraped around her finger and always leaves with freebies... I start seeds in the house all the time... some are for them some for me... but there are so many plants around they don't think it's strange

Well, I currently have one room dedicated to vegetables and I will have a second running full-steam shortly. Right now I only have the exhaust and one T5 setup running. For about $30/month I can have fresh vegetables/herbs year round. I also grow strawberries in there. This year I put a blueberry plant in so I hope to have fresh blueberries year round too.

To me it would be worth it at $100/month.

My daughter is in high school a long ways away from here and comes around once a year for a weekend at most - she's not really the issue.

I have one Hindu Kush plant in veg right now - and I don't even know if it's female. She'll be awful lonely in the Dark Room all by herself. Perfect opportunity to add a few pepper plants for long term, and get a few things started for transplant into the yard. Then resume ganga farming; by then my stash will be running out.

If I'm going to run the lights, might as well fill the space.

I hear ya,May as well use the light. One word of caution be carefull when transplanting from outside to the grow room. You can spread all kinds of sh*t very easily and not even know it.Something that was benefical to the plant outside might blossom in the grow room and try7 to take over.I sure you already were aware of all this base on your profile,But I have been surprised at how many people only grow MJ and have no idea on other plants.

I also have some blueberry plants in the room. Dutch variety though
With vegetable garden season approaching I've been thinking about getting some veggie starts going on the periphery of my vegetative room. Figure that the temperature is good and that even the indirect light can get them underway. Also this might be a good use for all that high quality, but used, potting soil? Want nice strong tomatoes that will start bearing fruit in early summer. 2 months before last frost is a good time to get them started inside and that is coming up in a few weeks for me.
Suppose this might be the wrong spot for this discussion (maybe under the other plants area is better).
peace.
