haven't you guys ever learned that the vast majority of people that get shot are gun owners ??

People who enter your home with a gun are generally unwilling to pull the trigger -- unless they think you also have a gun. I know if I was trying to rob somebody, I wouldn't want to leave a dead body and my casing inside their home.

The best way to protect your grow house is to keep your damn mouth shut.

That being said, I stay in excellent physical condition and train martial arts regularly. I think someone twice my weight would have a hard time getting at my stash.

And for the record, I do live in an area with relatively low crime rates (yet we still have the highest incarceration rate in the world damn near)

Finally ... a sensible gun law.

Vermont State Rep. Fred Maslack has read the Second Amendment to
the U.S.. Constitution as well as Vermont 's own Constitution very
carefully, and his strict interpretation of these documents is popping
some eyeballs in New England and elsewhere.

Maslack recently proposed a bill to register non-gun-owners and
require them to pay a $500 fee to the state. Thus Vermont would become
the first state to require a permit for the luxury of going about
unarmed and assess a fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun.

Maslack read the "militia" phrase of the Second Amendment as not
only affirming the right of the individual citizen to bear arms, but as
a clear mandate to do so. He believes that universal gun ownership was
advocated by the Framers of the Constitution as an antidote to a
"monopoly of force" by the government as well as criminals.

Vermont 's constitution states explicitly that "the people have
a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State" and
those persons who "conscientiously scrupulous of bearing arms" shall be
required to "pay such equivalent." Clearly, says Maslack, Vermonters
have a constitutional obligation to arm themselves so that they are
capable of responding to "any situation that may arise".

Under the bill, adults who choose not to own a firearm would be
required to register their name, address, Social Security Number, and
driver's license number with the state. "There is a legitimate
government interest in knowing who is prepared to defend the state
should they be asked to do so," Maslack says.

Vermont already boasts a high rate of gun ownership along with
the least restrictive laws of any state - it's currently the only state
that allows a citizen to carry a concealed firearm without a permit.
This combination of plenty of guns and few laws regulating them has
resulted in a crime rate that is the third lowest in the nation.

I have no idea if the bill even made it to the floor for a vote .... back in 2000. I heard about it from an email a friend sent ... not new news that's for sure, but interesting none the less

I think that the viewpoints on guns is pretty much governed by what area you live in, or are from. I live in a place where owning a gun would be a great idea, but for some reason it is illegal, and only criminals own guns, and therefore they walk around shooting people for no reason what so ever, other then gang initiation, or boredom. Who knows. Either way, they are shooting innocent people that are unable to shoot them first.

Hell, if someone breaks into your home here, chances are, if you are home, they will shoot you, even if you dont have a gun.

For these purposes, I think that it is completely necessary to own a gun, because NOT owning a gun, has proved rather dangerous, and life threatening.

I am a gun owner and I have several guns in my house. I figure if someones going to break into my house they plan on doing bodily harm to me or my family. My plan is to not give them time to do anything, I'm simply going to shoot them. That's called self defense, no need to dispose of the body, the county will do it for me.

I keep a 9mm Glock by my bed loaded.

In my dresser I keep a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag. loaded.

My 9mm holds 17 shells and my 44 holds 6. If they survive all those....They can have anything they want.

My youngest child is a 15 yr old boy who is a better shot than I am!

We have a God given and legal right as well as an obligation to our family's to protect ourselves and our family and if need be our friends.
