Can a convicted felon own guns acquired through inheritance?, if not what are his duties to sell/dispose of them? Is there a time statute?
I heard this is the only loophole for a felon to be in legal possesion of certain types of weapons.

Yes you see and hear that a lot, and thats because most of the busts you see or hear are commercial operations that require guns to protect, and of course those are illegal guns.

Even a legal gun some times is classified as illegal if: owner had no carrying permit and he was carrying it, or an expired permit which is the most common case.
There are states that even have a rule on how many rounds you can have.

Lots of people don't seem to take serious the rules and regulations of their permits.
Most permits don't allow you to cross state lines and yet many drive across state lines with loaded guns cause they think they're legal.
They're not, as soon as you cross that line or bridge, you're carrying a conceal illegal weapon.
In NY they slap you with 20 for that.

a felon on parole? it would be a violation of parole. he/she cant have it, at all. cant own, cant register, that right is lost. cant be in a car with someone with a gun, if found, it would be in violation. if he/she didnt know the gun was near, they would simply have to explain that to the judge. felon cant have a gun. judge might even send the felon back to prison for hanging out with people with guns.

He can't sell the weapon since he doesn't own it and have any papers for it, but it can be disposed at any police station as long as you have the permit of the holder or a permission note from the owner if still alive.
They will send the gun for destruction and the # of the permit removed from file.
I wont suggest that a felon takes the gun to the police though.

If is a collectors piece can be inherited as long as the piece is registered and the gun had its cocking pin removed and clasified in file as not functional to cost harm.
That he can sell.

according to this, felons cant have guns. they can ask home state and or state of offense for clemency, and this is only for non violent crimes. if they move, out of state, they cant take the gun with them. it is very limited.
