there are plenty of medical excuses for high electricity use. there are plenty of other excuses too. high electricity use is not a major concern, for a grower. there are more important security aspects.

utility companies do not just hand out customer information, unless they are fed owned. police find them, after an investigation is started, it does not typically start with electricity bills. 500 watts is nothing. i dont know when that was written, but 500 watts is one computer, these days, easily.

if you have to move the plants temporarily, rent a UHAUL and park it somewhere close, and stuff ur grow in it. i have personally done this, a couple times, and it works just fine.

be a homeowner, and dont rent, that should take care of most unwanted "outsiders" that you dont need coming through your residence at any time the homeowner pleases.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but recently a narc detective got high usage bills from the City of Austin (who is the electric provider for a large area) to start investigations on these households. He was trying to score brownie points with his boss.

He got busted for the practice, but this is just one example of it happening. Since I heard about that on the local news, I've been wary.

I'm hoping my bill will be masked by the weather - I didn't grow this winter (when the a/c is off) and had very low bills. Now I'm starting to grow again (only 1 room out of 3 online) and I'm using my a/c too.

Luckily I don't live where the City of Austin provides power, but I am aware of my usage nonetheless.

I just throw a sign in the front yard that says:

"Bill's Welding"

500 watts is nothing, my computer draws way more than that. So does my dishwasher, dryer, washer, guitar amp,....etc

Pay your bill on time and you'll be fine.

Was this recently? Thats not the first in Texas from what I hear... I'd be scared shitless to grow in Texas...

But as long as your using less than 6000 KWH a month then you'll be fine. I was hearing they were pulling bills using 6000 KWH a month & up. Thats a shitload... You'd need 15,000 watts + AC to pull that kind of electricity. You have to remember texas is a land of ridiculously large air conditioners so you can probably blend in as long as your not running 20kw

Nah, I have two server's that I built using 750w continuous power when its on and cookin!

So, I have 3-400watt HID's going
1- 8 tube t5 fixture pulling roughtly 375w I think?
add numerous pumps
6 or so timers
and a/c

But on top of that I have my jacuzzi, several other computers running, and the usual house hold stuff running.

Never had a day of trouble and the bill only went up a little because of it

But I turn my a/c/heat up/down during the day when Im not home to reduce usage
Keep lights off as much as possible
Dont grow during the middle of the hot summer

Just be cool, dont steal electricity or anything stupid like that.
Make sure your wiring can handle the extra loads you are about to put on it

And you'll be cool

Computers pull alot less than the power supply is rated for... generally they just trickle current. until the demand rips up. like gaming or other real graphic intense shit.

Welders on the other hand, those little fuckers pull mad current even when you arent hammered down. Just idling they can consume a tremendous amount of power.

If anyone here needs broke shit to use as there cover story, i have plenty of stuff that ive "fixed" over the years id sell ya real cheap
