He asked if I was growing mushrooms. I stated that I was attempting to grow portobellos because there so damn expensive these days! He then dropped all the mycellium he was carrying and took my word for it.

If I wouldn't have said anything. I would be in some deep as shit for having lbs upon lbs of mycellium. The shrooms hadn't popped yet so they would estimate the yield to be out of control. Could very likely still be in jail if I wouldn't have said anything.

Although there is a lot of situations where it is probably best to say nothing.. I just don't think you can apply that to every situation as people try to do.

You can say whatever you want to the cops, that is your right. Me, I'll use my right to say

nothing at all. Oh, how did that cop get in your living room? Why did you answer the

door? Did he have a warrent? Did he get in because you opened the door in the first

I didn't open the door.

They knocked. I just sat here on my computer carrying on. Figured it had something to do with someone else and I wanted nothing to do with it haha.

They got a warrant based on a "Smell" and they apparently saw paraphernalia through the window which I think is bull shit.

I didn't think this conversation was about telling the truth to the cops? Did I miss that somewhere?

I thought it was about speaking to them in general.

I didn't incriminate myself and if I wouldn't of said anything then I would be in way deeper shit.

I'm simply saying "don't talk to the police" doesn't always apply. Maybe in most cases it is the best way but I don't want anyone taking the wrong advice.

My reply was not toward you at all EMJ I'm not sure why you spoke as if it was?

More of a general idea over all. Don't just be brainless and not talk to the cops always because you think it is the best idea ever. There have to be exceptions to the rule.

I agree with ya HempyFTW, bullshitting the cops has also gotten me out of some serious shit. I do agree that once your busted, its usually best to shut-up, but if your not completly fucked yet, some clever bullshitting can go a long way.

yo hempy and thisbudzforyou, seems like you dudes speak from experience, there is no written way out, one dectective i know loved saying "now off the record" blah blah, what a crock of shit, nothing with them is "off the record"

Hempy you talked about parahpenalia, one thing that fucked with their heads was books i had on psycholgy, drug addiction and working with troubled youth, i also had bottles of valium (prescribed) suppose what i'm trying to say makes em think twice when writing up a report

Emj- By no means am I trying to start a fight with ya, I respect ya and I like most of the shit you say on here. But why not lie to the cops? I understand when you should shut-up, but if you're not to the point that your fucked over, why not lie til the end to try to get out of it? I understand that lying is bad, but that doesn't apply (for me) when it is the police. I have lied to them so many times and gotten out of shit. If I would have just kept my mouth shut they would have searched further and had enough evidence to arrest me. Sidetracking or lieing to the cops is a must. Once busted its time to shut-up and get a lawyer, until then i lie til the end, and it works, that way i don't even need to pay for a lawyer...

because they dont have to tell you are under arrest to use anything you say against you.

i basically agree with what you are saying, but take HempyFTW's example. When the cop found his shroom shit, if he would have been quiet about everything, the cops would have investigated further and found out they were illegal shrooms. Since he did not keep quiet and lied about it, the cop went on his way with other business not thinking twice about it. Seems like he got away with it just by speaking up and bullshitting. But I totally agree, if you have a grow going on in your house, and it is obvious the cops are there busting you for it, there is really no way to bullshit your way out of it and its time to take the "5th". Not really gonna be able to lie and say those aren't MJ plants like ya can with mushroom mycelium
