Well, I've been putting this off as long as I could. I need a recommendation on both the size of carbon filter and fan size for the following grow area. Total room dimensions work out to 175 square feet. Around 4 feet deep, by 3.6 wide, by 7.4 tall. 600 watt HPS on a light mover for the area. I've got a pvc frame covered in Sunleaves Ultraflect which brings the grown area down to 109 square feet but I'm guessing I need to size the filter for the whole area. I'm a day away from 3 weeks in flower and I'm starting to smell the garden when I walk in the house. Not much, it's in an enclosed area inside of a walled off laundry area, but I catch a wiff every now and then. The only person that knows about the grow is my brother halfway across the country. Even the girlfriend doesn't know, and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm having a party here at the house in 3 weeks so between now and then I'd like to get something set up to filter any smell whatsoever. Any advice appreciated! ![]() Last edited by Chillyhead; 04-21-2009 at 06:00 AM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | can 33 50 or 66 would work fine. use whatever fan is recomended for that size filter. the 66 is the tallest and smallest footprint, so if you are gonna stand it on the floor thats the one id go with.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Very solid advice from Luke. Your cfm should be at least half your wattage. The Can 66 sounds like the best bet. 6", 412 cfm, 42 lbs carbon, The Vortex 6" is 450 cfm. Best choice. The Eco 6" is 440 cfm. Good choice. Those are the only brands I have used, so if there are others that are better, others will chime in. A little overkill is good with fan/filters.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks guys! I knew there was a rule of thumb on the CFM but this is my first time researching filters. I pulled up HTG and looked at the prices on this. Yowzaahh! This is a little pricier than what I was expecting. So I should expect to pay around $450 for the recommended setup?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i use a can 100 with a can rs6l in a room about the same size... no smell. except when you open the door, then the whole fuckin house wreaks ![]() i know its a big mismatch, but its what i had layin around. the can max fan is always on stand by just in case, but the little ole rs6 does the job while pulling ALOT less wattage. unless u get a no name filter and fan 4 bills or so is about the going price... 2 for the filter, 2 for the fan. and some shipping. do your homework, deals are to be had. hydrowholesale on ebay aint too shabby

I purchased this for my 2x2x5 room. I do not smell a thing and I am in week 7 of flower with 3 plants. Cost $140.00 High Tech Garden Supply You might go with the 8" version for $300.00. I thought they had a 6" version but I do not see it listed now. DD

I wish I could say for certain that it's making a positive difference in the grow, but I changed up everything when I put this room together. Went with ebb and grow bucket system (which I friggin' love) and straight Lucas formula for the nutes. By far my healthiest, trouble free grow to date... If anything, I'd say the mover is keeping my canopy somewhat even, getting light to the lower bud sites, and allowing me to keep my light closer to the tops of the plants. Here's a picture of the mover and some buds at day 22. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Chillyhead; 04-21-2009 at 06:01 AM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i will keep my eye open for a light mover. only 2 plants get the whole light in my room. the rail system seems to take up about what, 6 to 8 inches of hieght? i am in day 21 of flower, and looks like i could have that loss of height with not much problem. thx
