The police would i think be supportive of a system that keeps people safely stoned in their houses, rather than scurrying around back alleys trying to score.

Another benefit to LEO is that it undermines criminal control of cannabis.

Of more concern i think are the pharmaceutical companies, the corporations who seek to patent and own everything. By promotion of mj as an acceptable medical alternative, we on one hand erode their market share and on the other, give mj value as a commodity. [ beyond street value lol]

No doubt they will move in concert with the media and government they own, using information like overdosing on cookies, anti govt rants, disagreements over acceptable practices; to spindoctor an ideal of prescribed doses and govt control.

Taking over mj is a relatively easy proposition, just buy the seed companies, suppliers of dirt, a few perlite mines. This is where the danger to our security lies. lol nigel

I think the thing to keep in mind, nigel, is that the marijuana laws have little to do with health and welfare of the citizens. You make very good, solid points...the thing is, that's not their concern. My belief is that the shit about ganja reflects two things:

1) a cultural bias (against true intoxication as opposed to toxic, depressive inebriation caused by alcohol; sensuality and creativity as opposed to factory work. I mean, for chrissakes, we legalize cigarettes with their known carcinogenic additives...nuff said!) and

2)deep seated economic interests. The western countries are HEAVILY invested in alcohol...the paper industry is threatened by hemp...Not to mention that big organized crime is heavily invested in the illegality of pot as is their other side, the DEA and the like.

If it were just the health and welfare of the citizenry, marijuana would never have been made illegal. Besides, can't have the precious flower of unsullied white feminity hang out with jazz musicians with big trombones, now, can we?
