I honestly feel the reason why MJ will never be legalized in this country is because cannabis couldnt be regulated.

Here is what i mean. So lets say its legalized tomorrow. The law will put in place taxes on the cannabis sold at any store, which could range from $0-$100(or whatever).

Ok, so consumers now understand they'll have to pay the price for their herb and the tax on top regardless of the amount they purchase. Maybe, they'll do a progressive tax, like a flat 6% percent on your total.

So we'll always have the people who don't want to grow and will accept the fate of being taxed on their marijuana, which is totally cool.

On the other hand, we'll have other people, like all of us fellows on here that will want to get around that and just grow our own. At the most, we'll have to pay an annual fee for a cultivating license but thats no biggie. One harvest will pay for it. So with that being said, cultivators will basically grow their own untaxed weed that will not benefit the gov't at all.

That is one reason why i can't see the gov't legalizing it. There is other aspects such as political interests in regards to hemp.

The real kicker is, instead of legalizing it and still benefiting with ONLY $33 billion per year, they'd rather conduct the war on drugs and LOOOOOOOSSEEEEE ALLLOOOTTTT OFFFFFFF MONNNNEEEEYYYY.

To me, the benefits outweigh the costs.

And we'll have some opponents who'll say, WEED IS THE GATEWAY DRUG!!!!. I say bullshit. Every human has the ability to choose their own destiny and actions. I strongly doubt smoking weed will infest one with a gene that makes them want to venture into every drug, thus living up to the gateway label. Those who choose other drugs haven't found their way or themselves and want to "get fucked up other ways". That's totally cool with me but lets not get that confused with weed.

Its like saying milk is a gateway drug. Once upon a time, i drank milk. Then ten years later i drank beer. Beer is another gateway drug because it led me to drink burbon. OMGGGGG. The point is, people have total control of their actions, not weed or anything else. I understand if your addicted to crack. It'll make you do anything to get your fix but from what i've seen, weed isn't addictive. Its addictive to look at and smell. THE END.
