Down to the smell !

I thought I had the odor situation covered but 6 weeks of flowering has proven me wrong. With that said, it is time that I get a proper odor scrubber. I dont like the idea of Ozone. I also dont want to cheap out anymore and find myself with this problem again in another few months. I couldnt afford to upgrade because money was tight but im almost ready to purchase (ive been saving). Im looking at this design I found on ebay . . . .

4 x 12 ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER HYDROPONIC ODOR SCRUBBER on eBay.ca (item 330314716207 end time 13-Jul-09 15:25:04 EDT)

The price in right for me. Do you think this size would do it ? Im growing with a 250wHPS. Not sure of how many plants ill be budding 4 sure. Last time I did 10 but this time Im either going to do more and keep them short, or less and let them go big. Im thinking more and short though.

That particular filter looks like a homemade filter...either get a can filter or one of the cheap filters from High Tech Garden Supply (aslo on ebay). Both are a bit more than that one, but the peace of mind is well worth it IMO.

Homemade/DIY filters can get the job done, but it is hard to know for sure. If you are gonna go that route, I would build one myself. It might cost you a little more that the one from ebay, but you would probably have enough carbon to do a refil when you are ready. There are a few threads on this site that show how to build filters that I would think would be better than the one you linked to.

Good luck seaman... odor control is priceless IMO.

6 X 12 ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER HYDROPONIC ODOR SCRUBBER - eBay (item 350211784582 end time Jun-16-09 00:35:08 PDT)

This one looks a little more professional. Seem to have a good feedback rating as well. Do I need to put this in a plastic tub like in the pic at the bottom of page or can I just hook it up to my vent system and let her rip ?

That looks way better than the first one IMO.

Here is the one I was talking about: 6" HTG Supply Filter It's only $10 more. Do you have 6" fans?

The 4" fans and filters are cheaper, but obviously are for smaller grow cabs. How big is your cab?

Holy fucken shit . . . Sorry for the long hiatus. Ive been busy busy busy . . . . first my laptop broke so i was without a computer for 2 weeks. I also had to rewire half of my house. however I am back and ready to tackle this smell issue becuase it isnt getting better.

My friend who is a former grower was suggesting that I duct into my sewer drain. He said most people he knew in the city did it this way. He also suggested to vent into my chimney which is entirely possible as well. I really like the sewer drain idea because it would put the smell into an already sitnky area. The only thing id have to worry about is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles getting a wiff but I had all there toys when I was a kid so I think Im OK .

What do you think about these ideas? Would be a little more work but ultimately save me the cost of a filter and should eliminate my smell.
