I rent an apartment on the top floor with 18 feet ceilings. I have one storage/closet room that is pretty big. My biggest problem is that maintenance can come any time for inspection and they do, but they aren't looking for drugs. If they can smell it though - I'm f*cked. I live alone, no roommates and I would not show it to anyone, EVER. However, its a non-medical state. I want to have a one small plant grow operation for personal use in a wardrobe-like structure with doors and ability to keep it locked. I would keep it in one of the big closets. 1. Given my apartment rent situation - is it a good idea to grow? Or is it too risky? 2. Is it possible to get equipment that would keep the smell entirely away for anyone located in that closet while the wardrobe is locked? I noticed some set ups have air ducts attached to...heck knows what.. AC vents? Wouldn't neighbors smell it if its a central AC system for the apartment complex? Mine is central AC. 3. I am not a handy man. Is it possible to get such a wardrobe-like thing from some store that would fit dimensions required for inside setup (lamps, whatever else, etc.). Would it be possible to insulate that structure so that no air comes out from the spaces between the doors? Is it possible to set it up well without having to drill holes and nailing stuff because I suck at that. 4. How much $ would I need, excluding seed/genetics to get this going? ... a cabinet and a carbon scrubber A DIY grow cab ... and a small carbon scrubber (in your situation, I would buy a brand name filter to ensure security) will do everything you ask For a 2x3x7 cab ... get a 200+ cfm fan, a matching scrubber, a 400 watt ... and you are good to grow ![]() I use a scrubber and never smell my grow ... until I open up the garden ![]() Good growing, Maven

Say, when you DO open the door, does the whole place begin to wreak? See, often 10 seconds of strong smell is enough for some neighbors to smell it... Could I grow a Sativa plant? I was told its not that great for indoor growing? Would I need to use fluorescent lights or the other HID type? I read that fluorescent ones are not as good, but could be enough for 1 plant. Would an operation like that increase electric bill by much? Also, could this cabinet be used for drying the bud too? Or would I have to do some other place? Besides, I want a stealth setup that won't raise their suspicion. I don't have a drill, don't have any saws, never worked with pipes or any of that. I did work with assembling PCs and all that stuff on micro level. In fact, I was thinking about using a large PC case for my grow op! That would be pretty creative, eh? I would plug all the vent holes except for one. Fan attachments are inside computer cases already. I would have to think of a way to attach lights there. I'm afraid once I open the cabinet or the case - the smell would pour out ASAP and stink up the whole place, and I can't allow that to happen.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i do nt know what country you live in, but you best read up on the landlord tenant act. NO ONE. can enter your home without AT LEAST 24 hours written notice. with the exception of emergency situations. and dont think they wont use the "i smelled gas" excuse if they wanna kick in your door cause they smell pot growing. yet still, they cannot look through your personal belongings. they could open a closet but not your "armoire" growing in an apt can be sketch, esp if you have people popping buy trampling your rights already. what you need to grow semi safely is a lockable cabinet of some type, a good exhaust fan and a quality carbon scrubber. as long as these elements are in place the grow will be as smell free as its gonna get. when you cut down you better dry the buds in teh cab with teh carbon filter...cause thats what really stinks. anything can be done with relative safety, but it requires presence of mind, patience and some pretty handy contrsuction. building a dresser or wardrobe cab is not hard, but things have to done right or it will be obvious what it is. you should google "c-22 cab" these are cabs built around the commonly available pre-fab garage cabinets available at lowes and home depot. couple that with a 250 or 400w hps, 6" can rs6L fan and can 33 filter. all will be good to go! use a cooltube or other air cooled hood for maximum results.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am not arguing with anyone directly, sure tenants have rights, but who is to say there is not an emergency situation? There is always the unexpected things to lookout for. Also, who says that you will always be there to "turn them away". But with saying that I am sure if you build it well, properly vent and scrub the air, and hide it well like you said in a closet. Possibly cover it with some daily camo, i.e. clothes, jackets, books .... what nots........ Also make sure it is not near piping or electrical access. And you said ten seconds of strong smell .............. just make sure when you are working on your garden keep the vent and scrubber running........ also read read read

Could you direct me to a guide? I think even pre-made cabs would require some hole cutting and such. I have never done anything like that. I will first build the guy and then have it critiqued by people here, then store something real freaking stinky in there and see whether there is odor. If its good then I will start growing. Its not illegal to have a thing like that until you actually start cannabis growth, right?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First off you must, be able to deal with the paranoia. And if you have a good carbon scrubber you WILL NOT smell a thing. Also while your still in the learning stages check out this fairly new thread. Dr Funks noob guide
