Help with a good place for Activated Charcoal in bulk?
permalink

Hi All,

So, I've got a small filter already, but I want a bigger one for later. However, I seem to not be able to find any places that sell good amounts (10-25 pound sacks) of activated charcoal.
At least, not without paying too much.
Anyone got any good places to get it?

I'm talking enough for a filter 8" around, inside shell 6", X 2 feet tall, not those little jars at wally-world.

Help is appreciated!

yeah should have said 'new, never repackaged'.......lately, all I see on e-bay is loose stuff someone re-bagged.....is it new? re-used? etc.

I'm tryin for 10-25 pound sacks/buckets/tubs, never opened.

Ebay is fine, if I can find the non-repackaged stuff.

Listen up!

"They" buy it in huge bulk quantities. Everyone.

Like in drums or crates or pallets of the stuff.

Bulk carbon doesn't come in tidy packages.

It's all repacked. IF they say it isn't they're lying.

That's just the way it is/goes.

no, i meant not repackaged where I don't know what I'm getting---- saw lots on ebay, never said if it was virgin Vs. re-used, acid washed industrial stuff, or what. Finally found 1 store, listed it as virgin, $23 / 12 pounds, 10 buck shipping per pack.

Lots of the industrial sites will sell a pallet of say 5 gallon pails or 25 pound feedsacks,, I was hoping for someone who buys the pallets and re-sends the buckets. I don't want 2,500 pounds; just the 5 gallon.

So, no, it's not all repacked- some comes straight from the manufacturer in the 5 gallon pails or tidy little packets, but Calgon, McMaster-Carr, Carbon Supply, et al. usually don't want to break a pallet or open a gaylord.
