Hello gents,

I know this has been asked in a variety of ways a million different times, I apologize . I don't really understand the necessary calculations and I have a habit of over spending. Real quick here goes: 400watt HID lamp and a 5x4x2 foot enclosed grow roomt; I'm looking at can fans w/carbon filters at my local hydro shop and they all appear much larger than what I need. With that light and that size grow room how large should I buy? Last grow stank up the entire place, can't have that again.

If you're crafty and have the time you can build your own for a fraction of the price. I built http://www.gardenscure.com/420/secur...on-filter.html this and my grow box is bigger than yours. It works VERY well. I sure do miss the smell.

I built a smaller version of this same filter using the small cup from the tutorial as the large one, and an even smaller one I found somewhere. It's really easy to build. The only suggestion I have, though, is that filling the inside stocking with carbon and pulling it out to fill the sides can get a little messy. I took some newspaper and wrapped it around the outer cup like a funnel to make it easier and less messy.
