Yeah a little paranoia is good- keeps you from throwing out gallon nute bottles and whole chopped males at the curb- but being so paranoid you can't stop looking out the window is silly.

Even if you saw the DEA rushing your house, if they got a warrant, do you think you can get rid of a grow in the 15 seconds it takes them to get in?

I'm fatalistic about it.......if it happens it happens, but I take all precautions to make it not happen.

I'm gonna say robbery. Having a robber come through the door would be more terrifying to me because of the higher chance that they may be crazy/stupid enough to try to harm me or my girl, which forces me to go through the unpleasant task of removing/dispatching the intruder, which will attract LEO in the end anyways. If I get jacked while no one's home, I'll cut my losses and get over it.

If LEO comes through the door, there are at least certain guidelines that they have to follow, and bending the rules too much can win you a clean slate. Even if they play it by the book a good lawyer can minimize the overall damage in the end, though that depends heavily on the local MJ laws.

In my opinion it's also much easier to prevent LEO from casing you by minding the rules. There isn't much you can do to stop some dumb thug from thinking he's tough enough to try your place though.


Paranoia is a bad thing; hyper-vigilance keeps you safe and sane. Sometimes the between the two is awfully thin though.

I will have to say though that the first time I had anything to do with anything more than 3 or 4 plants in dirt under flourescents I moved into a house that a friend was running. 3 rooms all hooked up (2 flower rooms and a veg momma room) 7 1000 watts in one room 5 in the other and 2 400 watters in the momma room. All the grow power was stolen via a rewiring out at the box. To top it off my friend was very bad about paying the small electric bill that came from the living room and I had power employees come out to turn the power off 2 or 3 times. This house was literally 2 blocks away from Sea-Tac International Airport and in a not so great neighborhood (lots of prostitution and drug activity) so every night there would be a helicoptor or two that I would hear.


I have to tell you that by the end of that year long experience I was literally up and peeking out the front window every 5 minutes and a few times when the helicoptors seemed to be hovering above my place I actually got in my car and drove around aimlessly for hours just so I could calm down.

The place never got busted but wow paranoia can really fuck you up.

For the people that have been robbed. Is it by people you know (or knew about grow), or by chance some thief stumbles across flowering plants.

Im just wondering. the only grower that I know that has been robbed, people have known about it.

The odds of a grow being robbed when no one but the grower knows about it are almost zero.

Greed and the desire for the almighty dollar will cause even a lot of "friends" to rob.

It is used by people who do not lock thier house, because they know it will not keep a thief out.

I lived on a block of land once, paranoid landlord; 8 foot fence. Burglars forced the lock with a bar.

We get a bigger lock, they brought bolt cutters.

We got even bigger locks and chains; the next joker used his van to pull the gate down; leaving behind his rear indicator glass.

He then smashed his way into the caravan through a locked door; ignoring the open one. Same with sheds; literally 'broke' in.

He got bogged escaping down a backroad, when the police who helped him out asked him about the gear in the back; he had stuck sale stickers on it all and said he got it at an auction.

The indicator glass led the police right back to him, we got the couple of hundred dollars of stuff he stole back; repairs to gate, sheds and caravan far exceeded that.

around here, there are people posing as collective representatives, and they case a target by innocently asking around if they grow, offering jobs, etc.

generally, the rippers are increasingly coming from out of the area.

Anyone on this site have some bad experience with robbers or police? A friend of mine was busted in the past but he was doing a whole house or 200 plants or so.

Which is worse? Getting busted, of course. When you get robbed, you just lose your shit. When you get busted, you lose your shit and also have to face charges because of it.

unless getting robbed lead to getting busted then it would probably be more traumatizing than just being busted.

its true though being robbed by the gov't cant compare to just simply being robbed by some dude with a handgun... Its like even once the gov't robs you they keep robbing you then they throw you in jail to boot, then they watch you, and rob you again if they find out you keep growing... Man what criminals

At least with a regular robbery all you gotta do is move your grow to a new location and life goes on
