Paranoid about being busted or robbed? Which is worse? What are the laws like in your area and how bad is the crime? What are some peoples concerns and how they address them?

I live in a decent area but have recently become sketchy about the hydro shop I have been buying from when a friend told me "dont go there its the worst place" associating it with thieves and cops.

im more worred about being "ripped" or "jacked" then getting busted, for sure. there are home invasions in my area, all the time, most of them involving drugs or indoor grows. and guns. its very mj friendly in my area tho. even the cops say to the growers to call them if there is a home invasion, violent crime comes first. i have a 6 foot fence all the way around my property, and a locked gate.

there are like 25 hydro stores in my area, all within 20mile radius. lol. im not so worried about the hydro shops.

I'm also more worried about being broken into than being busted, but only because I am not so worried about being busted. The city I live in is full of much larger operations than my 1 kilowatt hour of power.

Honestly, I'm not worried at all about getting ripped. We live in a very safe neighborhood & I leave my house unlocked all the time.

Getting busted however, is a whole different story. I go to extreme measures (there's not even a stem in my trash that goes to the curb) to be sure.

The chances of me getting busted are pretty slim however. I only smoke at home (anywhere on the ranch) or in the car while hubby is driving.

& Texas laws do not get along.

same as bluecheese, i dont even lock the door unless i go out for a long time.

busted, not so much, i only grow a few plants and not much light. ive seen people with 200 plants get off with a slap on their hands.

bit of noia, but not as much as when i was younger.

there would have to be some real good reason for me to stay in an area where i was in much fear of either. its a bit too much bust fear for me, but i cant move, so hey. (a real good reason to stay )

Getting busted is more of a concern than getting robbed for me. I rarely have company and when I do, they are old friends! I don't have enough bud to get robbed over and I don't sell. When I'm in "traffic", getting robbed is a major concern...that's way I carry a weapon. I could get killed during a stick up; getting busted I just go to jail!

I'm more worried about getting robbed at the moment.. I'm in a medical state. Even though I am in an apartment, its definitely more of a concern

I was not overly concerned about either until my friends story gave me some paranoia since I dont have much company at all, not even my old friends, and keep pretty quiet even though im still the loudest house on the street of old folks and a few couples with kids.

Now by contrast, I have previously grown co-cooperatively with a friend of mine in his house. He lived on the busiest street in the city, had wild parties practically every night with illegal fireworks, illegal fires, drunken people doing all sorts of ridiculous things, my friend himself riding naked on his dirtbike doing wheelies up and down the street near a major intersection (late at night) but still.. he was naked but for a cape since it was a Halloween party. The fire department and police were there on a regular basis for some of the previously mentioned, we did not use a carbon filter but vented through the chimney and on those hot summer nights we would be sitting out back by a fire and catching huge whiffs of it....

... and we never got busted!

Getting busted sucks on many levels, not just the going to jail part. Then again, rippers and robbers are more likely to be violent where as LEO is less likely to cause (detrimental) harm over some marijuana...

...Then again, we've all seen, or at least read, differently.

Where I live small quantities of god's gift is a felony, even smoking can land you in jail.


Paranoia is a killer! A chronic disease that once it sets in it intensifies exponentially. The fear can be crippling. Spent many a night looking out the window , waiting.
I have found that usually it was quite unwarranted, just my mind playing tricks, but I will say this about paranoia, it keeps you safe. If you have all the bases covered on security and safety, then you're all good.
