| Any one out there from the UK? Am fascinted by the yanks concerns but would wish for some discussion closer to home. My specific concern is this, my girlfriend waorks in the public sector, if I/we get busted for the little horticultural experiment I have in my loft can I "take the rap" and leave her out of it? If she gets a record for drugs she will never work again....which would be a bad thing. Anyone know the answer to that one? Thanks | ||

![]() | Hi Smokestack... Yep, UK born and bred (well, until a fortnight ago - just moved to Germany and it's proving tough to find a hook up) and very interested in the way our cannabis laws are going back home. I'll be moving back in a little over a year anyway, so it's good that I keep my ear to the ground. As for your question, I would have thought that if your girlfriend protested ignorance of the whole thing while you backed up her story and confessed to it all, there's no reason why anything should happen to her. Last year at uni we grew skunk while living with a strongly anti-'drugs' (his word) person, but he seemed happy enough for us to guarantee to absolve him of any blame if we were discovered. I don't know what experiences you've had in general with the police and pot, but in my experience unless you're suspected to be dealing then they really couldn't care less. One problem with the near blanket American perspective on the web is that it becomes easy to forget just how liberal things are in Britain when it comes to personal use. If you have just a few plants in your loft then I honestly can't imagine that (a) anyone's going to find them (unless you live in a terrace, in which case you should use a cupboard or something) and (b) that you'd get anything other than a slap on the wrist anyway, assuming it was your first offence and you weren't growing enough to make selling worthwhile. I know that this is just my perspective, not hard and fast rules, but perhaps the most important point is to remember what country you're in and that American governmental sensibilities towards these things differ greatly from our own. I don't know a grower who thought twice about keeping plants, and I should imagine that as long as you keep quiet about it you'll be fine... Hope this helps (re-assures, maybe?) and good luck in your horticultural experiment I think my e-mail address is on my profile, otherwise try Spiderman420@iFrance.com if you want to chew the fat about pot on our island sometime...Take care...

| My thoughts exactly Spiderman, the girlfriend in question is French which maybe explains her paranoia, certainly before she turned up I never gave it a second thought and I agree that as long as you're not selling the stuff no-one gives a monkeys especially the boys in blue. Just for chatty stuff I spent a year in Germany and had all kinds of trouble keeping myself in the good stuff, in the end, (there were a few of us) we used to take it in turns to take a trip to Amsterdam every month (usually just after payday natch)which solved an enrmous amount of hassle and stress. According to folklore as I was in the South (Sonthofen/Kempten area) the North was much easier for that kind of thing. Best of luck anyway and have fun! Cheers. | ||

![]() | French attitudes towards cannabis aren't something I know a lot about. I do know that the last time I visited, which was recently as a foot-passenger, they didn't even ask for my passport let alone anything else. If you can tell me a little about French attitudes I'd be very interested to know more about them as I have a lot of connections with the country, but not anyone who I can really discuss this with... I know this is going a bit off-topic, but since the opportunity presents itself and you were in the same situation as I am now then I might as well ask... I always assumed that Holland would guard it's borders heavily, and German border-guards would be extremely suspicious of a student travelling alone from the Netherlands. But is this the case? Do the border police really care if you bring back a bit of resin? And what would happen if they did find it? Thanks for replying and for any help you can provide me with...
