i plan on growing in heavy brush on a hillside near a very populated area. my only concern is dedection from smell and from homeless people sleeping in the area.

i had some theories on these issues....

for prowlers i thought about simply putting alot of nails in wood and turning them upright. a nail in the foot never killed any one. right? or would this be too suspicious to scatter nail booby-traps everywhere?

and for people smelling the plants i thought about putting something in the area that smells really bad, like some thing that resembles raw sewage or dead animal smell except i could never kill an animal :P
or would this be useless in keeping homeless peoples away? and its not like there are armies of bums raiding the place for ganja plants. it just concerned me because when ever i am in that area i always see little make-shift camps with rags, blankets, porno mags,ect.... or would planting in heavy brush\thorn areas be enough security itself? ive never actually seen bum rummage in areas where it is rugged. just near the hillside on the flat areas.

i plan on growing from 8 seeds in 8 pots burried in the ground using that jelly water absorbing substance i heard about in a previous post, so i dont have to make continuous watering trips. i hope these babies all turn out to be females.

also, what is the average time for a plant to show signs of sex? i want to get those males out as soon as possible!

i love this website! it has given me so many great ideas. i only wish it had more information on gurrila farming.

thanx a million! ~underground

Hey dude I think that it is a little late in the year to be starting plants outdoors. Maybe if you live way south, like mexico, It would be ok. But if you are further north you will have to wait untill the spring.

Peace

well, buddy, from what i know about homeless people -- and i know alot on that subject -- what they find that looks unclaimed is theirs. it's dog-eat-dog, sadly. it's not a matter of the happy hobos of yesteryear singin' around the campfire. it's about disease, despair, big-drugs, and inhumane treatment.
also, alot are drug-addicted, so to catch hold of anything psychoactive would be useless for you to defend. and, also, it wouldn't be a good idea to pay any of them to guard it for you, 'cause they couldn't.
a nail in the foot could cause tetanus, which is at least disabling and at worse lethal (so you'd be indirectly killing a human, which would make you feel much worse than killing an animal for deterrent smell).
and last -- but not least! -- where homeless people congregate, you'll always find COPS looking for trouble-makers and people on the lam.

scattering nails about will also attract some police attention. Try and plant it next to a bush or something of a similar size, but eventually it would get too obvious. if i were you i would rethink the location. Also bear in mind you will be making regular visits, which will no doubt attract some attention.

hate to say it, man, but that whole setup sounds like a good way to get busted, lose your plants, or both...
