i am planning on making a grow op in my attic, but getting power up there will be a bit tricky, im thinking punching a hole just below an outlet, and running a wire through the wall, behind the dry wall up behind the wall and into the attic through a hole drilled in the floor of the attic. anyone else have any ideas? attic access is in my room, and the room is lived in by a few people so it would have to remain a secret, thanks

Do you know much about electricity?
What you will need:

- a junction box, (octagon(one for mounting lights in the ceiling))
- 2 wire nuts (Plastic things for twisting wire together)
-cover for junction box.
... U could use a 4" sq. box and cover two.. I think they are more $ though.

What you do...

Probably (in the attic) there are some exposed wires under the insulation. You do not want to pick one used for switching a light or a plug, because it may not have both a hot and a neutral. Just pick the first one you see. you will probably get lucky. Make sure before you do this to turn off the master breaker in the electrical panel. Now make sure the wire has some slack. What you do is cut the wire, strip it back and fasten it into the junction box, do this to both sides. Join the black wires(HOT) together and use a wire nut and do the same to the white(Neutral) wires. Now when you need power all you have to do is connect the black wire from your lights to the blacks in the junction box and the whites to the whites.

Whites to whites always.
Blacks to blacks most of the time some times to red. If you come across a 3 wire (black, white , and red) splice only into the black and whites.

Just make sure to ground the box using the ground(bare) wire.

If you are scared to **** with electricity, don't worry as long as you have the master breaker off while you do this You can't get shock, also if you think your wiring sucks
just try turning on the M. breaker after you're done. If something is wrong one of the breakers in the panel will blow, you will here it click, If this does happen you now know what circuit the wires or light you cut into are on, next time you only have to turn this one off. Hope this helps,, I just started a job to apprenticing to become an electrician in Canada, So my garden has a nice wiring job, I get lots of free components from doing demolitions, Actually It's a little over board.

cool man, you sound like a smart guy ( at least with the wiring) heh heh, could i get your email so i can make sure i dont f*ck something up? i also live in canada, and it has been a sonofa***** trying to find a small wattage hps light (75,100,150 max) maybe you could help me out in that regard, too

the best way I think to do it is steal them.
