![]() | This probably isn't the right site for this question, but I haven't seen Ganja Warrior post anywhere else. When are assets/bank acounts are siezed? Before or after trial? I was just wondering because if they seize all assets before trial, there wouldn't be any way to pay for a lawyer.

We generally try to have the seizure warrants in hand before we arrest anyone or serve search warrants so the assets can be seized before they disappear. Usually the forfeiture action against the assets is a civil hearing that is not dependant on a criminal conviction. In sopme instances the government will pursue criminal forfieture over civil forfeiture where the asset forfeiture is dependant on a criminal conviction. Recent changes in the asset forfeiture laws has eased the burden on the citizens. It used to be that to contest the forfeiture of your assets, you had to place a bond equal to the value of the asset to contest the forfeiture. The federal government can still hold hearings on the source of bail money, etc to determine it's source, and if the citizen can not show that money for the bail, or for the bond to contest the forfeiture of assets is from a legimate source, the government seizes that money as well! The more successful persons place assets in some kind of protected status, such as trusts, or in third party names, or the good old tried and true burying. There are many good sources of information on how to protect assets available on the open market.

| GW I have just read about every post from you and could not agree with HG and Sativa more. You seem to offer some high quality info no matter the motive. We have probally met you if you refuled or rested up in Fortuna (off Rohnerville Rd.) I would usually visit the southeast side of the airport when all the old CDF planes would come in and got to meet many CAMP voulenteers/employees. You may not hear it often on HC.com and even though this may cost me a few new friends here I want to say "THANKS" for taking the time to post. Even though you say that you would never tip someone off you have probally helped a few stay out of jail with your info. Keep on Posting ![]() Thanks again, MM Post Script Can I get a ride in one of the Bells when I come out to see my friends around Christmas and have any of the Hoopa's shot at you guys lately? Or started any fires? | ||
