The infrared images and disscusion on the forum re helicopters in the US is intresting. Is there anybody aware of the policy of uk police helicopters and what technology they are currently using, and how they use it?

I am not aware of this being done in the UK... I could very well be wrong though. I think the most common cause of being caught is by chance or by being indiscreet about what you're up to.

I DO know they have night vision equipment fitted to their "choppers", as you must have seen on those "Police Camera Action" programes on TV. AFAIK the main use of the helicopters is in catching joyriders etc. I would recommend looking through the UKCIA site to see if they have any further info on stuff like this though. It's really quite a useful site

Cheers Papa, thats a relief, it`s just that at odd hours in the morning i often hear a chopper doing it`s rounds, i can actually hear the vibration of one coming from miles away, and im not even doing anything usefull yet!!

Leaf i dont think you have too much to worry about. i live in Canada and as far as i know none of the common wealth countrys use infared ( are military sucks ). but you should still be on the safe side and take all the proper precautions.

Your so right about being on top Rocker, elsewhere on the forum im checking out smell prevention methods etc. The word on the street, well the street where i live anyway, is that all the choppers do is hunt down peoples grow rooms. i have often mused that this could be a scare tactic, and wasnt sure that they had the tech. so when i found the infrared pictures on overgrow a month ago it was like aaaaagh!! Anyway thanks to you and Papa for the advice it really does help

uk cop choppers do have PIR tech on board, im sure you have seen it on TV. any ways, i read somewhere that the police cant get a search warrent coz your atic is hot, although, if there has been a tip off that your growing it and your atic is hot, im sure you will have a knock at the door. if your real paranoid about it and dont have enought cash to buy expencive exhaust systems, i would vent the hot grow room into another room, by leaving a door open, then when you feel its safe open that room to the outside once a day (either open the window or outside door) it should work in theory.

Yep I think you may be right about the uk choppers, im gonna vent it through a spare chimney flue and disprse it through a bafffle thing to make it look like central heating.
