| I have my plants setup in some tall brush in a big field, well, the other day i went down to my spot and about 20 yards aay is this large yellow tripod, i took the intstruction manuals to find out more about them and figured out that is was a GPS Satellite system to survey the surrounding land. When i first found this out, i was such a sketchy situation, i don't know what to do, should i be worried? Is this anything like police activity or just some contractor? thanx | ||

![]() | Sounds like someone is gonna build a house on your crop! How many plants you got around? If it's only a few, pick em up and move on. If they are far enough along, leave them to finish up. They could take a few more months before they begin to build. Your best bet is to move along though ![]() mr g

| If it was "THE MAN" you would be the last to know about the find. I would follow the instructions of Mr GREEN. Then again I would try to find out more about the mysterious location of the GPS. Builders and Contractors (even federal) do not usually leave expensive equipment lying around unless the land is government owned. Be safe you may have more than a GPS on that tripod. ![]() A little survailence on your part might not be a bad idea. Stay Safe Always ![]() | ||

![]() | You know reading this thread I had an idea. Why not use the cops methods against them! I always hear about how they might be watching you. Why not get a cheap webcam that can run on batteries and put it somewhere that it can see the whole area around your grow. Maybe put it in a tree or something. You could have it broad cast an image every five minutes or something. Have a reciever well hidden within range and record the images. Before you visit your site just take a few minutes to review the previous few days surveilance and see if anyone was snooping around. Granted this would cost a buck but the peace of mind would be worth it if you could afford it.

![]() |
quote:
Originally posted by Mr Monster: That is a damn good idea! Luke use the force and build this device.

I've been thinking about it and it seems like you could do it fairly cheap like around a couple hundred or so. Maybe if somone was very ingenious they could do it for $50. You wouldn't even need to transmit the images. You could just use a cheap digital camera with a telephoto lense. Have it set up a few blocks away covering the area. An image every 10 minutes or so would do the job. Even better would be a motion detector that would only take a picture if there was movement. I've seen IR motion detectors go for $15 to $20. I'm just not sure what the range is on them. Might be only 20 - 40 feet. If you had a thin wire going from the detector to the camera. The wire could be buried. You could put the detector fairly close to the grow. That way any large animal or human that passed by would get their picture taken. Before you go to the site you stop and check out the pics on the camera and see what's been going on since you left. Anyone have any comments on this?
