![]() | There are many ways to securely browse the web and post to these boards without having to fork over cash. I use an anonymous proxy. Proxies are servers that will 'handle' all your requests for you and so when browsing the web, the IP of the proxy will show up and not your IP! Here's a site with a bunch of anonymous proxies: http://poisk.hypermart.net/proxy.htm okay so pick one out and write it down. If your using Windows9x do this: 1) Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panels -> Internet Options 2) Click the "Connections" tab at the top of the window 3) At the bottom of the window, you will see a "LAN Settings.." option, click on this. 4) Check the option "Use a proxy server" and write in the name or address of the proxy you chose and put the port there as well. An example would be if you chose the proxy 127.0.0.1:8080 (dont use this one!). The name or address would be 127.0.0.1 and the port would be 8080. viola, anonymous web browsing. you can go to this web site to make sure it works: http://www.all-nettools.com/pr.htm go to that site before you use your proxy and record the information it tells you. Once you input your proxy, hit refresh on that webpage and it should display the name & address of your proxy server. If it doesn't then you messed up or the proxy doesn't work!

Hey Panama, you should somehow convince more people to read this thread because only 26 people have read it ! I mean "no kids allowed" has over 100 reads already. Maybe people dont know what "sans" means. (by the way it is french for "without"). People need to read my post and use it ! All this talk about FBI's Carnivore internet monitering system should make people use anonymous proxies! optimus
