Question

Hi, all.

After my recent bummer with 16 seeds not sprouting, I want to get some seeds that are good quality. I would love to order from a seedbank, but live in the USA, where, as you know ... (haha).

I have searched and read the posts on this topic, but I still don't know some things.

Some have said receiving seeds in the mail is not illegal. Well, even if that's true, possessing the seeds is. How often does an order from a seed company result in a search warrant?

Does anyone actually know anyone who has been busted for getting seeds in the mail? Or been place under surveillance after getting seeds in the mail? Is ordering the seeds a sure way to be flagged for surveillance or a search warrant?

Do the feds or local governments monitor the mail? Can they ask the post office to set aside mail with certain addresses? How about mail coming into the US. Do these seedbanks have undercover agents who tip off US authorities?

If Ganga Warrior is right that the Feds aren't going after the small growers, could I expect to order some seeds and not be bothered?

I checked into a local post box service recently. They said they want two forms of I.D., and I'm not about to go out and get fake I.D., so I'm forgetting about that idea. The only way I'd do this is to send the seeds to my address and pray. Is this totally foolhardy?

I appreciate any informed responses.

Peace,

0 out of 16 results? bummer. maybe you should practice with more bag seeds before wasting good seeds from a seed bank.. kind of hard to think that out of 16 seeds not a single one sprouted.. has to be your conditions or a batch of REALLY dead/premature seeds. It'd be a shame to see 16 more 'ordered seeds' go to waste.. catch my drift?

I agree with aeroskunk Try bags seeds once again you don't wanna flush money down the toliet ... if you do you can send me some

Practice with bags through an entire first grow then maybe you can think about getting top dollar seeds

1 bag = tons of seeds cost $25
10 seeds = cost $150

hmmm....

Really, guys, I'm not a moron. I've never planted seeds before and have nothing come up. I'm sure the seeds were bad, and you didn't answer my questions.

I would trust a PO Box before a standard address. Force them to add a level of bureaucracy to the process.

But I found a better way myself. There's a way I can walk home where I pass by a few businesses that have mailboxes right out on the road. One of those businesses was almost vacant and when I checked their mailbox, they hadn't picked up their mail for ages. I had the seeds delivered there. Every day I checked the box until finally there was my package.

The Heaven's Stairway packages are perfectly stealth. If they make it through customs I can't imagine anyone noticing. There is a great volume of mail to deal with and I'm sure big packages are a higher priority.

You don't have to buy $150 seeds. Get some respectable seeds at a lower price. My first grow was from bag seeds but I wish it was from better seeds. I wound up with a hermie which was disappointing. Quality genetics give you less chance of hermies.

You might screw up the first grow but I think it will be more predictable. You'll know how long the flowering period is supposed to be. If you really do your research, read the grow guides, follow people's advice, pay for a good light setup, etc. you may still make some mistakes, but have a fine smokable product at the end.

if your worried about it then send the seeds to a friends house who doesn't grow, then just pick 'em up from him.

Hi, Art. Sounds like you have the ideal setup with the abandoned mailbox! (We don't have too many of those in the city.) Thanks for the tip about adding a level of bureaucracy. I kind of feel the same way you do about starting with reliable seeds; I don't want to waste a few months and get a cruddy crop.

Hi, Optimus. I'd hate to see my friend's house get searched and they get busted for having a roach lying around or something. Thanks for the seedbank info link.

Well, at the moment I'm just going to wait it out until the right situation appears. I'm getting freaked out at the risks, even though they seem to be small.

Aeroskunk & Lilbuddie -- sorry my answer was a bit snippy. I know you were trying to help me out.

Happy growing and Peace,
greenjeans

I was thinking, it's probably far better to get a box at one of those commercial mail drops such as mail boxes etc. rather than a PO box. You might be able to get a mailbox there with a fake ID. Also, the fuzz would have to get a search warrant to investigate their records. Don't know if that applies to PO boxes but I would doubt it.

Just a thought here, about adding levels of beaurocracy(sp?). You could use multiple boxes, then have stuff forwarded from one to another. I mean, if they're really out to get your ass, they'll get it. But that would probably discourage most people out there with a life.

Heres a trick I learned about outgoing mail (i used it to conceal where I was mailing from)

place your real letter in a second envelope addressed to "postmaster" at any post office in the US. No address is needed, just the zip code and addressed to postmaster. When he/she opens it and finds the real addressed, stamped envelope, he has to redeposit it back in the mailstream and it will be postmarked from his PO
