![]() | Hi there folks! Glad to be here all registered and proper like. I have a word of thanks to the admin for not logging IP addys here. It makes me feel all the better for it. While on that topic I'd like to mention something if I may. It would be the sad fact that the rest of the world is NOT like this board. There ARE people that do not like the fact the information that is shared here on growing, breeding, Scroging, or ANY of the topics we find most helpful. That element would rather that we all go to jail because they believe that we are bad people, we break the law. That may seem willy-nillie, here and there to some, but not to me. I want my exchange of information to be as smooth and trouble free as it can be! For that reason I have taken the time to set up a proxy (several really!) and take other measures. The use of PGP (pretty good privacy)is a must for me, it should be to all that want to share info through e-mail and "other programs". I also use BID (black ice defender) for my ports and run two anti-virus programs. My system is purged of cookies in the windows folder everyday and I also purge my browser cache right after that. URL for port checks and pos security problems https://grc.com/ GET SCANNED! TIP: For netscape users, if you delete your COOKIES.TXT file and create a FOLDER called COOKIES.TXT (you may have to use filemon to do the .txt extention change) you can fake out srevers into thinking that you took a cookie bite! Why the hell am I telling you all this? After lurking on here for awhile I thought I could communicate with some here. One person left an ICQ# so I contatcted them and let them know I use PGP and have a hushmail account for that purpose, but NEVER mentioned pot or anything related to it. They became the "all knowing answer man" from jump and began to tell me about the grow lights they bought and how the government cannot possibly care about what is bought, sold of said over the net. They were told that they were being put on ignore and I had no idea of what they were saying. How sad for me. I'm sure that they had information I could use and I know that I have info they could take note of. About two weeks ago a good friend of mine called me all in a twist because he sent a program via Yahoo Messanger to someone he knew along with a crack for it. When he was done he got a message from yahoo that not only did his buddy get the program, but the company that made the program was sent a copy of the files he transfered. Yes, it is true that Big Brother cannot watch everyone all the time, but little brother can. And Little Brother does. Every purchase you make with your credit card, every phone call, every click of the mouse is recorded somewhere. Servers, know, on average, 3-5 pages you visit BEFORE you get to any given one. They have logs and logs can be read by the people that run them! YM is a nasty bugger to begin with. I can go to anyones home that has it, punch in my info and MY friend list is there waiting for me. WHY? Because that information is stored on a server! They know who you are and where you are and when you chat with whovever it is you chat with. They put beacons, cookies, spyware, and adware on your comp and don't ASK, they just do it. The net is a big place that happend by accident with no one to govern it. That is a good thing and bad thing all at the same time. Good for freedom and bad because they (the servers) DO keep track of what is going on and that is exploited to our regret every single day. That is why we have to become stealth! What we do here is OUR business and we have to keep it that way. If you have any questions on the hows and whys get a good book on TCP/IP and read read read it! Learn all you can about privacy or one day you may not have it, or worse you may have a knock on your door by some people with papers you don't want to see. If anyone is interested TCP/IP for Dummies is a good place to start. Also there is a site I belong to you may want to check out: Harmless Strategies {Moderator Note: Link Removed} You have to pay for that one, but I have belonged to it now for about 2 and a half years and I have learned a lot. There are many more that are out there that are FREE. They WILL tell you how to protect yourself and answer questions. And for crying out loud, don't talk about this stuff when your unsecure!
