After playing around with my new digital camera I noticed that the "properties" of the pictures I took were quite detailed:

Now that last one, Owner's Name, kinda scared me. I could easily have entered in something like a name and phone number there. That would be useful in case I lost my camera. Well that information would also be attached to every picture I've uploaded to this forum.

doesn't the act of re-sizing and "save-as" remove this sort of stuff? I can only see the file detail on the original pic with the camera software, nothing is in the detail field on the saved smaller copy.

I have a Sony cyber shot..it has some properties... but you CAN turn them off...and you can look at its watermark in PSP..if it has any?... but you can just view the pic , hit Printscreen.. not select all and copy/paste... just print screen and crop.( crop )

Interesting thought... aside from the camera info/tags there is PSP, Photoshop etc to think about with watermarks and various info tags depending on file format. Most often the software knows who registered the software or especially with XP a lot of software gets owner info direct from the OS whether you provide it or not. Whats to say some software does'nt just take the default owner info and label it for you. I'll have to look some more but a lot of software does that like Word. Something else to be paranoid about LOL.

Your right Sanster, I was able to clear the meta tags by resaving in Corel Photoshop.

LordRaven you bring up an interesting point. I was only viewing the info tags that my viewer programs recognized. Maybe there's embedded program information I can't see. I'll add that to the list of reasons why I borrow *cough,cough*software.

I have a Canon PowerShot A40. It does the same thing, although my name was not entered in there.

I noticed my camera does the same thing!!! Good thing it's my sister's cam. The person's name on the details only comes up as author, and the date on the camera is off a few years hah Thanks for pointing out these details!!!
