![]() | I have read most of the other threads about flir but they mostly end up in an argument about wether cops have the right to use flir on your house without a warrant or not. I dont care if they have the right to or not, I just want to be able to grow and not have to worry about it and have a pretty much total secure setup. I live by an airport so it has always been a worry for me. I want to know how exactly I should insulate my grow room or box. I heard using glass blocks it but if the glass gets hot that will show up but what about putting insulation on the inside of the glass so it doesnt get hot?? I just want to know how to make my grow room undetectable, not if the police need to have warrants or not. | ||

Just insulate the heck out of the grow box/room. The growroom needs to be totally enclosed and sealable. The best place for a growroom is in the center or middle of a structure surrounded by walls and more walls and insulation and baffling between the growroom and the last exterior wall. Then next thing to think about is proper ventilation and odor control. As long as the air and heat is disapated properly and the growroom insulated, it will help keep your heat signature at its minimum. In my state, they need a warrent first. Not worried about the heat sig now. More concerned with smell and noise at this point. -BB

![]() | Keep in mind the power your lights are dissipating as well. If you have a single 1kW light in a closet somewhere you are not generating that large of a heat signature. If you have several bulbs in a room you would want to vent that to the outside somehow. Or up into the attic. The attick has some benefits based upon the way your house is built. On a sunny day with dark shingles, the amount of heat generated from the bulbs is small compared to the suns rays. I would think that the easiest way for them top detect heat is from side windows. And insulation around these puppies is key. Although you don't want a blacked out window either. But a well constructed box around a window will still allow you to hang curtains. then you could insulate the exterior of the box. Glass blocks are poor insulators....use the fiberglass battens or rigid foam is you have some extra $$. I get the itchies from the pink battens. Can you provide more details on your setup?

![]() | Why not vent the hot air through a large filter, to get rid of the smell, and have it blow into other rooms of the house... save on your heating bill, and no trails of hot air for FLIR to detect.
