What are some ways to avoid pesky meter men from detecting high levels of electricity and reporting them. Starting to increase the amount of energy gradually or what?

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are running serious wattage. Even then the pigs have to ask or get a sopena or something like that.

What are you going to be running any way?

as long as you pay your bill on time they aren't going to be worried...most meter men are finished for the day when they get all the meters read in their area...so they are just trying to get the job done...if you ever watch one of them they are in a hurry....

or if you don't want meter readers around at all you can just call in your own readings...it's an option for most any electric company

remember that this place (the electric company) is there to make money...not to worry about why people are using their product....

As someone who rents an apartment from a landlord, can the cops just get permission from her or do they have to have the renters consent to enter?

only the landlord, but check your lease...most of the time there is (or should be)a clause that they have to give you 24-48 hours notice before they can enter. the only way around it is if they hear someone dying inside or the place is on fire or something...check your lease...

I grew for almost 2 years in an apt.....

Consider too what you know about your landlord. Laws & leases don't necessarily protect from the Mrs. Kravitz type. Trust your instincts and beware the nosy, curious sort.

......dont be running over 5000 watts of grow lights in an apartment man....thats just asking for it especially if you gotta live in the same apartment with the other electrical appliances running....

i plan on running about 5000 watts of grow lights on my next grow......in my 3 story condo, which has me concerned about over all electrical use.....i am paying about $160 a month now on my eddison bill and cant imagine the bill once i have everthing set up and running full power.....even thought about buying a generator to help eleviate the power usage....but this could be over kill.....
