![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | As for the original post: Put a business name on your bill that would reflect the electric consumption. I'm not going to name a business type cause its what I do! But think about a small business idea you could do in a residential building on a small scale that could consume large amounts of electric Ok..... as a pointer I'll give you one. Firing pottery in an electric kiln. Therefore, you become 'Milagro's porcelain' on the electric bill for example. (We all know Agii produces S&M leather products though )Think about it, and try and produce something without surge usage such as a kiln, but maybe something that trickles a lot of electric such as candle making which could use a 24hr vat element Add electric showers and water heaters to the equation even if your water is heated by gas. In the UK we have a wealth of competitive gas and electric suppliers. Do not go for the cheapest which will be major and 'accesable' companies. Go for below average and someone most haven't heard of. That way they'll be glad of the business you give them and far less likely to be tempted by the 'inform us' squad ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i have wondered alot about the propane usage i have one of those stand alone propane gen. with transfer switch if i hooked up a grow to the generator and my gas bill was throught the roof would that be safer than my electric bill being throught the roof? my electric bill even w/o grow is over $650 in summer with a 3 bed house and has been for years with grow lights - look out im very worried cuz my usage is already high (much higher than neighbors) staying very cool is good for my wifes illness - helps with the nausea we run our air on 62 when its 95 outside - house doesnt get that cool - maybe it will reach 71 during day i thought a bout one of those boxes that lower you bill - thay say up to 20% but not sure i believe it

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | $650/month? If that is the case then you really need to think about putting insulation in your walls. From the sound of it, you don't have any. With 2000 watts my electric bill is only $170/month in the summer. I have a 5 bedroom 4,200 square foot house. Something is wrong if your bill is $650.

R30 insulation in attic (very good) nothing wrong w/ my house - its just running a/c at 62 when its 95 outdoors 2500 sq ft under a/c w/ 14 ft ceilings typical bill is around $400 in these parts - if i run my lights and a/c like i do it doubles in summer question stands - would generator propane high usage be less of a red flag than the electric usage?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well if you are running your AC to 62 and it is only getting to 70ish then I'd say there is something wrong; then again I'm not an HVAC person. To answer your question, I would think that increased gas usage would be a larger red flag. It wouldn't flag you as a grower but it may get the gas company to investigate why it appears that you have a leak.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | $.05? Wow. I live in a very hot climate (one of the hottest in the US) and my AC keeps the house nice and cool without having to run 24/7 (it turns on about once an hour for 15-20 minutes). I get paid $.08/Kilowatt for the extra electricity that I generate. I'd hate to see what they charge for it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I did forget the important factor. The south side of my house is under 10-50 feet of earth, depending on the location. I do not know how the average person can afford electric bills in the $300+ range.
