The germination method used in this experiment is the paper towel method. My experiment is to see exactly how long (after the seed cracks and taproot grows) it can survive in this same medium and also how well it can adapt to its conditions with the right nutrients. I have a 4x4 in tupperware with a lid. Three small sheets of bounty on the bottom...place the seed on the top and then i cover with another sheet. I damp the paper towel with tap water only enuff for the seed to suck to the paper towel. It should not have very much water to squeeze out of the paper towel but moist or damp to the touch. It have been 3 days since the seed has cracked. It is forming full root systems and the stem has elongated and growing upwards. The stem is very stringy. The seed shell has been shed and cotyledons are beggining to open. I will be keeping track on this and monitoring its growth. I am trying to find some superthrive to use as well. Here are pics of the root system and seedling. Keep Posted...BK

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i actually had a buddy tell me something similar. He said put a seed in a cup of water and you can grow it submerged in water. That is not going to happen. The plant does not receive the neccesary nutrients "FOOD" that it requiers to survive. For example put a human being in a cage and give him only water, no food. He will eventually die of starvation. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() | This came about by accident when i left seeds germinating, left home for the weekend and met it that size. So i decided jus to see how long this seedling would survive in there...even if its just a few days. My whole purpose is jus to kno how long it maybe safe to leave seedlings in this method before it is too late to put them in a growing medium. I have already had seedlings shed its seed shell and expose its cots (the cots remained closed until it is exposed to light)...am sure many other growers have done this and they grow jus as well. Shrubz i placed it in soil a few hours after i posted this thread and my experiment ended so quick...I want to monitor its growth to see if its better to place in soil wen tap root is from 1/4" - 1/2" or if it doesnt affect this aspect. It was about 3.5 days with stem a lil over 4", cots remained closed together and root system appeared to be growing well (pics originally posted).
