It's a little too soon. Most seeds will germinate in five days, but it takes a bit longer to actually come up and sprout through the soil. Wait ten days and take another look at them.

I ussually allow my seeds to soak in water, then once I see the root start to come out of the seed I plant it.
Sprouts no later than 3 days after I plant it.

If I were you, I'd recover the seeds and try to germinate them with the paper towel method. Run on search on Germination 101, search the title only. You'll get some real good info. Check out the grow guide too if you haven't already, and if you have... check it again . Peace, and good luck.

I have to agree with ALPHA.

I used the paper towel method and within 48 hrs 20 of 25 seeds had cracked. So i planted in a propegator (covered seed tray) and within 24 hrs every plant was at least an inch tall.

Hope this helps

olla,

I've been using grow plugs like Rapid-Gro or Super-Starters. These are not peat plugs so no acidity issues. They have a small hole that you drop the seed in, moisten, cover and check them once or twice a day. Suggest that they be at ~ 90f or ~31c.

You can take a flashlight and see when they start to germ. Or you can cut them with a razor 1/2 way through so you can open them easily for inspection. You can keep them in the plug for a week or more after germination then just transplant the plug into soil. Do a search for grow plugs on the web they have pics and more info.

I believe there are two links in my signature with information on germination methods... if you haven't found the info yet i'd suggest taking a look at it.

personally i've used both the paper towel, and i've just dropped a few seeds in a small cup with a small amount of water, keep them warm but not hot, and in a fairly dark place, check back in 2 days and you should see the starter root popping out of the seed shell... good luck...
