JMO is beginning to sprout.
Plant is Curled

I germinated my 2 seeds a couple of days ago using the paper towel thread, and when both root tips came out they kind of curled around the shell. Now one plant has come out of the soil and the plant is bent over. The leaves have opened up but instead of facing up its facing the ground..... anybody have any ideas on how to fix.

thanks

let nature take it's course.

What kind of lighting are you using? It should begin to grow toward the lights soon enough.
Might want to get a wee little fan to blow gently on them as well. Pics help!

Good luck...

If the stem or stock is not stiff or to stiff you may be able to stand it for a day or 2 with a toothpick and some thread.

JMO is beginning to sprout.

i just checked it and now its kind of tilting at a 90 degree angle. I turned the plant around so the curl would be facing the light. should i turn it around again so the plant is forced to flip upright?

thanks

I'll ask again, just because it's one of the most important first steps (in my mind anyway) for a new grower...

What kind of light are you using?

Curly Compact Flourescent? HID? the Sun? or.... Phillips 60w soft white incandescent?

if it's the last one... you need our help

Indeed, lighting is the key, sounds to me like it may have stretched to much reaching for that light! and cannot support itself yet.

JMO is beginning to sprout.

Hey guys

Um im using one of those compact fluorescent bulbs. its 100 watt... this isnt going to be a huge operation, i plan on this being a small grow.

it didnt come out straight and fall over because it stretched, when it first emerged from the dirt it was curled over sideways. You guys were right though i just checked and it is pretty much upright now and it is actually looking pretty healthy. its about 3/4 of an inch high and the second set of leafs that are serrated are coming out.

I have another question though. You guys said dont water it. and i know thats to promote healthy root growth(lol ive done my research), but how often do i need to water it. Because right now one of my plants the first leave's tips are curled down. and i thought that that was a sign that it needs more water, but in my little tray to catch the excess water is pretty much full. so any suggestions on what that might mean??

anyway i just wanted to say thanks guys. this forum rocks and the people on here are actually nice unlike a lot of the other forums that i go on.

thanks again

gr33n is beginning to sprout.

you only need when it starts to dry. keep it damp though while theyre sprouts n seedlings but dont water too much. by watering too much, it causes root rot. you probably already knew though the soil will soak up what water it can hold and the roots will feed off of the soaked water. the excess water is pretty much runoff which isnt needed. when i get a lot of excess water i tend to just dump it out. leaving it there might cause mold or something of the sort. i personally water every week and a half to two weeks. go easy on the water when theyre just sprouts though, thats what i do at least. dont want to drown them

be patient, refer to these forums when you need help, look up your problems and youll most likely found answers. im about to start my second grow. and my first was small like what you're doing with the compact bulb and it turned out beautiful. if you dont want to have too much expensive lighting, add a couple of small fluoros to the lighting mix.

hope that all helped and good luck with your grow!
